Managing Courses timetables

Hi, I'm creating a teaching courses-site, it's will be like a blackboad where teachers will post news, annuonces and some homeworks, students can register or follow the courses withour registering.

My couse node (the group-home node) has some user-reference-cck that stores and link to Teacher's profile.

I'd like to manage also the timetable of each course, I mean that I'd like to have a calendar that display the timetable for students, with date/room associated to it (each course can be done in different room during the week).

Language site Bohemica.com now running Drupal

Finally, almost a year later than I'd hoped, I moved http://bohemica.com, the website for students of Czech language and culture over to Drupal 5.1. It is built primarily using CCK, Views and Panels (but Amazontools, Gallery, Paypal, and others are also an important feature). I did use the quiz module in one place but it's not quite what I need (http://www.bohemica.com/quizes/aboutczechsandczechrepublic/essentialczec...). I was hoping I could convert the old exercise system (see http://tuit.glottalstart.com) into a Drupal module but didn't have the resources. Feedback welcome.

Can I do this with DrupalEd?

I'm trying to create a site to facilitate communication between teachers/staff and parents at my children's elementary/middle school. What I need to do is create essentially a unique group for each teacher to post class assignments, events, announcements, etc. The parents can subscribe to these moderated groups. Only the teachers can post nodes, and ideally, only in their own groups.

DrupalEd 5.2-1

Get release 5.2-1 here.

From the upgrade notes included in the release:

This upgrade is in response to the CCK security announcement.

While this security upgrade only affects a specific use of CCK that is not present in the DrupalEd configuration, anyone running DrupalEd is strongly advised to upgrade. A healthy dose of paranoia regarding security concerns can save you hours of time/emotional distress.

Google Apps Provisioning

As I've mentioned in the past, another student and I had been tasked with developing Google Apps modules for SoC 2007. SSnider has since made public the excellent Google Auth module.

On my side of the project I've been developing abstraction code for the Google Apps API to make it more Drupal friendly. Part of this development is a user provisioning module. Before I make any of this public, I need a wish-list for a Google Apps provisioning module. I want to make sure I haven't missed any major features. What features do you want? What features are more important than others?

School Intranet File Storage

I am making a school intranet site. I would like to have a place where the office can store many of its files/documents for the staff to have access to. Now, if we want a form we have to go to the office and the office is covered with forms. It would nice at a central location. Are there any recommendations on a module to use for this purpose?

What would be the best calendar for the staff to keep adding information to-- a central calendar?

Custom book pages . . .

Okay, now the teacher in me is challenging the tech geek within . . . and the teacher side has me stumped. Drupal was the perfect way for our school district to create and group edit our course curriculum maps. The book module is great for managing this collaborative effort where teachers can comment on the map and school curriculum specialists can make adjustments dynamically based on the comments. Of course I always want more to make the process more in line with our needs . . . thus the tech question. Is their a way to select from alternate forms when "Adding a child" page to the book?

Extending DrupalEd with ImageCache and Imagefield

These modules work well in in making it easy to upload any image, the resizing is sorted for you and multiple versions are created for different used eg thumbnail size, main image etc - see:

create tabbed view for front page

I want to create a view that has at least a couple of tabs. For example: the first tab might say "headlines" and the other might say "recent stories". I am not sure how to do this.

You can see something like this on www.nowpublic.com.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Getting more from courses and groups

One limitation of the current DrupalEd install is that if you have say six year groups and each group has ten courses eg Maths (year2), French (year2) etc, that is 60 groups. With (say) 20 pupils in each year group there is a real need for some automation of the process so... see this wiki for a proposed solution

drill-down: can I do this without reinventing wheel?

I am going to try again with a more concrete question.

Much of my site will involve drill-down scenarios, from pre-populated MySQL tables, like the following. There is a db table of "sections" of a university course. There is another table of "students". The two tables are linked by a third table of "section assignments".

Trouble getting user stories to display on the front page

I am attempting to get all authenticated user submitted stories to display on the front page. They should include the title and a short teaser. I have enabled this content type and checked published and promoted to front page in the work flows section. I have also made sure that all users have access content permissions.

However I am still not getting user stories on the front page. I am using the zen_trevor theme. Is this a theme issue?

Creating a site now

Hi all,

I have three whole weeks of aquaintance with Drupal, and one day's acquaintance with Drupaled. I have a site to build, for an academic programme, and am going to take the plunge and use this platform. I don't yet know much about "drupaled culture", so let me just ask a question about asking a question:

Are things at the point where it makes any sense to describe, fairly briefly, the dimensions of a project, and get feedback on how best to implement it with the Drupaled release as a starting point? Or is this the wrong time for such detail? Or the right time but the wrong forum?

Contributing to DrupalEd

Hello, all,

There have been some conversations recently about adding features into DrupalEd -- the main discussion has been around improving documentation and supporting different types of install profiles, but, IMO, there are also other areas where things can be made better.

First off, for those who are offering suggestions, thank you. Using the install and providing feedback gives us all a place of reference from which to start the discussion, and get more people contributing into DrupalEd.

Maintenance release of DrupalEd

Hello, all,

We have created a maintenance release of DrupalEd. This is not a security upgrade; this release only updates the existing code.

I was going to get a release together in June, but there was talk on the dev list of a possible 5.2 point release. When that release never came about, we decided to move forward with this maintenance release of DrupalEd.

What else would I need to praise the blessings of DrupalEd?

I do sing and praise the blessings of DrupalEd, but, but, but...
Ah, at the risk of being considered ungrateful (something unthinkable, by all means), and since of course I would love to use it in a real, live, well populated project for a local institution, here's what I'd need to praise DrupalEd's blessings without my present reservations, purely egotistical, naturally:
