Hello,
I searched much for ready module can do count every visitor for articles and show it in article (node view),I need some thing like :

x reads | x comments

If anyone has any ideas for me that would be great, thanks so much.

Photo cutlines using ImageField Extended?

The info for the ImageField Extended module includes this:

"This now "extends" the base FileField widget using the new CCK 2.5 alter hooks, which is also a requirement. The update script should convert all of your existing fields. All FileFields and ImageFields can be extended, as can any widgets from other modules that provide additional functionality to FileField. REQUIRES CCK 2.5+"

I have no idea what this means. alter hooks? Can someone direct me to a how-to?

Drupal groups - how to remain member and post discussions but don't want discussions posted to my email

How can I remain a member of groups but without having to receive an email for each discussion posted? I can't find anything in the settings to stop receiving emails.

Ready to use theme commercial/professional for newspaper site

Just joined this group

I saw a great readymade Joomla theme at JoomlaArt. They have some Drupal themes also. But none like the Joomla one. It is called JA Teline. I was wondering if there is anything like that available for Drupal.

With JA Teline, It takes few clicks to create a complex professinal looking site with most of the fuctionality required for a newspaper available out of box. Please let me know if there ars similar options for Drupal. I saw 100s of 50-100$ drupal themes, but non of them suitable for media/news sites.

Shared hosting, VPS and dedicated server?

I've been developing a website for several months now which I intend to launch before I graduate from college in the fall. It'll run as an online magazine and blog with fresh content rolling in weekly. I've been eying VPS hosting but don't know which package to choose from. What amount of RAM, storage space and transfer allotment is good to start off with?

Best practices for news images

I am looking for best (available) practices to manage images for news. Is essential for news images to be reused some times. Does someone find a way to reuse images and arrange them in galleries?
I want to upload images, arrange them in galleries and be able to attach them to articles multiple times?

For now the closest I found is “IMCE file browser”, but it’s very basic way.
There are no thumbnails no description for pictures, only preview when you select the picture.

Someone found a way?

Best Practices for Image Categories?

I'm looking for a best practice (if one exists) on how to categorize images. Currently, you can dump all your photos in files/images, but that can quickly become a mess, to put it politely. Is there a way to create a hierarchical image structure for Drupal?

Hello there,
I am quite new to drupal but I was very impressed with some of the newspaper sites using Drupal, and have decided to use Drupal for developing my newspaper website.
However , there is one functionality that I need, which is calculate the fee for each publisher when an article is published, so that the manager of the website can see how much money they owe to each publisher.
I have gone through the forum but haven't found a module that do the job.
DO you guys know any thing like that, or do I need to write a module on my own?

I always have questions and need to participate on the groups.drupal. But while I am at work, the site always trigger spam filter. I tried posting from several terminals and still having the problem. It looks like the ip address has been spammed or something. Please refer me to the appropriate where I can get this resolved. I am posting this from home...

We've just launched a multilingual website (Greenlandic, Danish and English) using OpenPublish. The website was earlier in TYPO3 and has been migrated to OpenPublish. Please leave your comments on the quality of the case study.

We'd like to see this promoted to the Home Page, as this is a first of it's kind migration (TYPO3 to Drupal/OpenPublish).

Adding Month and Year to Advanced Search

I am looking for a way to add the month and year to the Advanced Search function. This would search the Authored On date for matching records. This should also allow search by a Category, such as Sports. Even though this seems like a rudimentary thing, it doesn't appear to be a very straightforward thing to accomplish. I have looked and looked, but can't find the solution.

Newspaper-Specific Panels Question

I'm developing my frontpage with Panels 3 and Drupal 7 with Panels960gs. Here is a common question specific to newspapers I hope someone can answer. I'm using the 960/16 5-7-4 Right Sidebar layout, putting my menu at the top of the "Top" region with my logo image directly below.

The problem is the SuperFish menu displays on the top line, then the logo displays on the second line, but right after the menu ends, so it looks something like this:

[ Menu ]
            [ Logo ]

What I need is this:

[ Menu ]
[ Logo ]

Panels Help: Any Newspaper-Specific Layouts I Can Import?

I've decided to use Panels (and Panels Everywhere) to create my site's frontpage. Are there any layouts suitable for news? I'l like the secondary menu on top, followed by the logo banner, below which is the primary menu in a menubar. A Featured Post should display below, followed by a taxonomy of news headlines in the main content area and two 250px sidebars aligned to the right.

How to keep lightbox slideshows from showing all photos from multiple galleries on a listing page?

I am using Lightbox slideshows to display photos from galleries on a site. It works perfectly when there is only one gallery on the page, but when a page is a listing page with multiple galleries, it doesn't just show me the photos in that gallery, but all the photos on the page, from every gallery listed. Instead of 5 photos, a slideshow starts with 70 something photos.

PayPal stalling out Ubercart?

On our newspaper website, we've been using Ubercart and PayPal successfully together for almost a year -- and now we've hit a snag that I can't find a way to solve.

A website visitor used an eCheck on PayPal to pay for an online product (a birthday ad) purchased through our Ubercart shopping cart. The eCheck won't clear until some time Monday (March 21).

Every Ubercart/PayPal order placed after that has cleared PayPal -- but the status in Ubercart for each of those orders is still "Pending."

Hey folks..

Let me introduce myself here first.. My name is Brian and I've been given the task to redesign the website of the newspaper I shoot for.
I've used wordpress for quite a few years to run blogs and never really understood why Drupal would be the choice over Wordpress for something like a newspaper site... I've gotten my feet wet here for a couple of days and I'm starting to realize just how powerful Drupal is.

Anyways, I've gotten off to a great start and this group is a wonderful resource. However I have a few questions...

How to Show the 1st New(node) with Image

Is there a way to configure a Views block to showing the first node with its photo in a list and show the other without photos only titles and links?

for example, I have a block set up to show all the stories in a given Taxonomy. But I want to show the first story with photo from that list.

I'm trying to build an auto dealer solution for our newspaper's website; it would be a section on the website where auto dealers could post information about vehicles for sale: each vehicle page would be a node, with photos, description, etc. Similar to the real estate section we already have in place.

Ways to link/add archives?

We're building a new website for a college newspaper, which now is hosted on College Publisher.

We just found out that we'll have a two-week window to grab the archived stories. We're told it will be a CSV file, via an FTP server.

Any ideas about what to do with them, once we have them?

The journalism teacher really wants them as part of the new site.
