Newspapers on Drupal

I am building a news website, but would like to make sure that the journalists are not writing the same articles at the same time. How can i avoid this?
At my old website (not drupal), i made a text box for the journalist to fill in with a short description of the article he was going to write befre being let onto the creation page. In the meantime, other journalist could see in content list that an article was already in process of being written.

Any suggestions?

For some reason, starting this morning, the superfish menu and other list items are all displaying badly for anonymous users on my site. I didn't see this right away because I always visit the site as an admin, but I know it wasn't happening before, because I do login and out of the site often.

I don't think it's tied to a permissions issue, especially since I haven't changed any, but I checked anyway and couldn't seem to find any settings that might affect it.

Does anyone have a clue what might be going on?

Hi All, I was wondering doesn anyone have any info on how to remove the c999 shell from a hacked Drupal install. The hacker was able to upload a file through an old Drupal 6 website which installed this shell in some way. The script that did this was uploaded from the /files/images/ directory. We have upgraded the whole website (core and third party modules) and have it running on a local system now again. However, when browsing some pages, e.g.

Hello all, I'm new to the group but have been browsing all of your discussions and I just wanted to say that this group rocks. I've found so much usefully info.

We want to allow users to contribute Business Press Releases to our site for admin approval and posting.

Our article content type has a taxonomy attached to it that includes a number of terms that I do not want the general public to choose from. At this time, I only want them to have the option to pick "Business Press Release".

Can someone point me in the right direction on this?

When I upload a picture using the album feature, the following error message comes up:

The selected file files/images/test.jpg could not be uploaded, because the destination is not properly configured.
Error Uploading File

I have checked the google search, and found no solutions. I tried 777 chmod on unix but that didn't work at all, and also re-checked the file systems directory as follows:

File System:

files/images

Temporary Directory:

files/tmp

I checked dir perms on both the above dirs and no success yet. Kindly assist.

I heard a lot about the performance and the power of Drupal and have missed more than 6 months to learn this complex CMS .. I do work for a strong position for which I work with my newspaper and eventually fell Drupal did not take visitors to the site and it always overload the database (mysql) some times the load reach 200 and it never reach it before ...
I enabled core cache and the server got down again next day ..
I installed Boost module and adjust it cache 18hrs and the server got down totally next day ...

I'm looking to build a news framework over the summer using Drupal. I've settled on the Pressflow version and the Precision theme to build my child theme. I now need help finding tutorials on building panels aimed at news sites. Any suggestions?
