Has anyone else noticed that the other NYC Drupal Meetup (I just read about it in the last discussion)? IT looks like it's been taking place for over a year, and yet I've never heard a peep here on g.d.o. I'm assuming that the meetups at Mansueto are still happening, though there isn't one listed right now. It seems odd to me that the owner of the meetup group isn't cross posting events here. Has anyone here been to the new meetup? Has there been any discussion about coordinating activities?
Here's the meetup page: http://drupal.meetup.com/9/

I have attended
These meetups are very small and intimate. It is small group of people with lots of questions. It is a different kind of meetup then the official G.D.O. group, I have pushed this group's members to attend the main groups meetups.

Meetup.com group is not new.
Meetup.com group is not new. i've found out about them very long time ago when the group was very small. i reached out to the group admin in hope to bring them to what i and so many consider nyc dug home on groups.drupal.org, unfortunately i did not hear back from the admin.
It would be great if several our members could go there and tell them about this group website.
As for hosting meetups @ mansueto, they are still happening on monthly basis. We havent had meetups in jan and wont have one in feb because we had a huge theming seminar in january and will have drupalcamp in february.
Several of our members wanted to organize social meetups in local bars but not too many of those have happened, I urge members to pick up this oportunity and make an event to meet local drupalers they haven't met yet (or want to see again :-D ).
Cheers!

I attended a couple of weeks ago and had a good time. Just a few people came. It is in a really great cafe/health food grocery, and the point is as I understood it was to provide an intimate and informal opportunity for people to come and ask or answer questions and troubleshoot, with a limited pre-planned meeting agenda. It is scheduled for every Wed night or nearly so. If you have some issue you have not been able to work through yourself or online, it can be a good forum to bring it to and get some in-person assistance. I don't see it as competitive with the groups.drupal.org event (except when they might occur at the same time).
