Right now it just goes to "groups.drupal.org". Shouldn't it go to a list of all event nodes posted to the nyc group in reverse cron order?

Or
Or alternatively there can be an "all events" tab at the top of our group if this isn't possible.

I tried creating a new calendar view to implement what you suggest but i wasn't able to achieve an easy solution. The difficult part comes from the fact that you don't know what type of argument in the URL you are looking at. for example: you can pass group NID url argument or in the same place you can pass a date, distinguishing the two is not easily possible.
Despite the difficulty it is a very good suggestion and i urge some one to try to get it done. You can see which modules comprise groups.drupal.org on this page http://groups.drupal.org/about and therefore can reconstruct the site on your local test/dev environment. there you can tinker with views to accomplish exact result we want/need. Once you have the views calendar configured and working the way we want you will be able to export it. Once we have the working view exported i will be able to import it into g.d.o :). Good luck!
