Join us November 11, 2014 for a presentation from Justin Gossett about Omega 4. There are many features included in the newest release of Omega - hear why Omega 4.x is a good starting point for theming new projects.

Justin is a LA Drupal Group members since 2009. He has worked on both large and small scale sites. His expertise lies in site building and front-end theming. He currently builds Drupal sites for businesses in the Greater Los Angeles area.

Join us October 14th, 2014 at which time we will be hosting 3-5 professionals and community members to lead a discussion about [TBD] and then breaking out into Birds of a Feather (BoF) groups for a focused users helping users session.

Join us on the last Wednesday of every month for Drupal happy hour! We're meeting this time between 5:00-6:30pm on September 24th, 2014, at Barbara's at the Brewery.

There are no sponsors or presentations at this event. Just dinner, drinks and Drupal. Worldwide Drupal Happy Hour is on the last Wednesday of every month and is observed all around the world. Sister events include happy hours in San Diego, Portland, Oregon and New York City.

This particular happy hour event is just prior to the Open Members Meeting the same evening at 7pm at Droplabs, the world's Top Drupal Location. Everyone is welcome to attend either or both events.

The 1st Tuesday of the month is coming up again and it's time for another Downtown Drupal Meetup! Join us at Droplabs near Downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 between 7-9pm Pacific. This meetup is free.

Those who would like to attend remotely are welcome to join us via webcast.

Are you new to Drupal or the Downtown Drupal meetup? Come learn about Drupal and how others like yourself are using it for their project, business or organization. We promise not to talk down to you.

At this meetup we're having another Drupal Show & Tell. After some quick introductions and light news and announcements, we'll be going into 5-minute presentations (called lightning talks) on the projects that each person is working on. We won't be able to get to everyone, but everyone who attends will be expected to present on something.

Did you recently attend a great Drupal or tech event that you want to tell us about? Are you currently having a problem that you need help with? Did you solve a problem recently and now have a solution to share with the group? You'll have up to 5 minutes to present and then up to 5 more minutes for Q&A with the other attendees. We'll be using a chess clock to make sure that everyone has enough time.

That's right, it's like Drupal speed chess! (The difference, of course, is that we're not really competing. We're here to share and learn and not "smack down" anybody.)

The special week is to allow us to have a special presentation. The special presentation is from Keri Poeppe entitled Emergency Preparedness for your Drupal Site. This is something we all need.

Keri is with Gorton Studios, a Drupal dev shop in Minnesota, and NodeSquirrel, a Drupal backup service based on the Backup and Migrate module and built by the folks at Gorton Studios. Our goal is to give people helpful information about dealing with website emergencies. We'll also share a bit about NodeSquirrel and explain how Backup and Migrate / NodeSquirrel is part of being prepared. But, to be clear, this isn't a product push.

We will return to the fourth Thursday on September 25.

Indie Code Sprints

This day-long event is being combined with indie code sprints for your personal Drupal projects. Drop in any time during the day and work on your modules, themes and sites and contribute to Drupal.org! If you need any help, there will be experienced mentors on hand to provide assistance. Please note that our mentors will also be working on their own projects and might need your help with acceptance testing, user feedback, etc.

We're excited to announce a Greater Los Angeles Drupal Special Event: Silicon Beach Drupal with Friday5.org Founder Michael Berman. This event focuses heavily on the needs of startups, innovative ways to use the Drupal framework and related technologies, and the nuts and bolts of product development and customer acquisition.

Join us on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 in Santa Monica, CA, between 7-9pm Pacific. This will be our first-ever meetup at BLANKSPACES Santa Monica. Seating, food and drinks are limited and RSVPs are encouraged.

Friday5 Demo and Case Study by Michael Berman

Michael Berman is Founder of both Friday5, a Drupal-based crowdfunding platform for nonprofits, and Ready, a real-time location-based mobile app that brings new friends together.

Prior to founding Friday5 and Ready, Michael spent many years selling at Fortune 1000 and Fortune 500 companies. In 2010, he stumbled upon a promising little startup in Silicon Valley called Eventbrite.
