You intend to help to translate the Drupal interface to a language? This is the place! Look into the translator's guide in the Drupal Handbook for detailed documentation, as well as get onto the translations mailing list.
The internationalization group might also be interesting, dealing with content translation support issues in and around Drupal.

There are several major modules and few dosens of additional tools on internationalisation. I find it quite confusing to figure out, what particular combination of modules and settings will lead to the expected behaviour. So I'm addressing other group members with this request to help me.

Hmong Translation
Does anyone know if there is a Hmong translation file out there? Alternatively can I cheat and just create a new translation option and call it Hmong? Can I do this without actually making the .po file? What problems might I run into?
Thanks
Read morechinese character
I have a three language site. One lang is Chinese. In previous non-drupal versions of the site the chinese characters had to be converted to unicode to ensure proper display. I see that I can enter copied and pasted chinese directly into drupal. Does it display reliably or should I keep converting to unicode?
Thanks

¿Hablas español? Parlez-vous français? You can help with these patches that are translation-related.
- Improve translation string search and editing interface
- locale_inc_callback() is a thing of the past
- Re-split locale module (depends on the locale_inc_callback() patch)

Read moreWelsh .po files
Although I don't speak Welsh I would like to get a collection of Welsh translations together for Drupal.
I thought I would play around with the translation modules on my blog last night and installed french, spanish and welsh. French and spanish both had a few hundred core translations, welsh had none and there are no downloadable welsh translations I can see.
Are there any?
Can we do somthing about it?
Do I need to learn welsh?

Read more"msgstr" was expected but not found
As I export my language in Drupal 6 and try to import it, I get the following error:
The translation file fi.po (finnish) contains an error: "msgstr" was expected but not found on line xxx
The translation import of fi.po failed
I found a related problem here: http://drupal.org/node/253903
I added a plural header which is missing from my po-file and to deleted all lines related to plurals. This way I managed to import the file, but when I export it, the plural header is missing again.
Any solutions?
Tnks in advance!

Hello there,
If you or your organization is developing in Drupal, please list yourself here. The aim of this post is to prepare a list of the organizations which are working on Drupal CMS. Thus if we want to organize a major event like Drupalcon in India in future, it helps us a lot to co-ordinate between all the organizations developing in Drupal.
Thank you.

Hello,
I'm building a multi-lingual site, where I would like different translation groups/roles to be able to work on their language (and only their language) to translate source content. In some cases translating in response to content being posted, and at other times originating the content.
Read moreUsing Drupal Translation Tools For Something Completely Different
Hi All!
The company that I work for creates software for mobile phones. I'm working on a project to use a Web site to gather community-generated translations for some versions of that software. In other words, I'm going to have a pile of text strings from the application UI(s), and I will be feeding them through a Drupal-based site for community translation. The end result should be something similar to Google's Google In Your Language.
Read moreHandbook page about the localization server
Any further work on this is done in the handbook, see http://drupal.org/node/302196 and http://drupal.org/node/302194. Suggestions and help still very welcome, of course.
The current handbook section on how to contribute to translations doesn't mention the local translation servers. The following is a draft for a handbook page (or pages) to correct this. Please help by editing it (it's a wiki page), or by pointing out stuff that's incorrect, missing, or should be improved.

Is there a way to automatically wrap all "translated" text with html tags? For example, the font for dz (Dzongkha/Tibetan) is really quite small compared to western fonts due to the possible height of characters in the language. It would be very useful to take any text and wrap it with tags so that I could then institute text formatting with a stylesheet, while not disturbing and western text that may be untranslated.

In the Drupal 6 translation templates, there are several strings on the form of {something}.something, such as:
The {languages}.language of this node.

The user's role ID from {users_roles}.rid
The {users}.uid that created this version.
Block body's {filter_formats}.format; for example, 1 = Filtered HTML.
The block's origin module, from {blocks}.module.I've poked around a bit in my Drupal 6 test site, but haven't been able to catch any of these strings in the wild. Can anyone tell me what kind of context they appear in?

I've just started the Scots translation of Drupal and made a wee site with l10n_server on it. My intention is, for the latter site, to have it also become a unifying point for people involved with Scots localisation in other parts of the FOSS community (I've made contact with an Ubuntu translator, for one). But, to whichever extent it's going to be used - just for Drupal or for Everything™ - it'll need some tools. Having just started out on this, I still haven't decided completely on which tools I'll want/need, so I wanted to take this up with you lot. Which tools to you need and use?
