Austin

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Welcome to the Austin Drupal Users Group!

As of April 2025, we are no longer posting events in this group (there are too many places to post events and groups.drupal.org is dying a slow death).

TxDUG / Texas Drupal organizers are collecting contact info for Drupalers in Texas so we can stop being reliant on other platforms (here’s looking at you Meetup.com) for communicating announcements. Please fill out this form so we can email you about Drupal events in Texas (you can choose which regions).

Please join us in the #austin-texas channel on Drupal Slack. If you aren't already on Drupal Slack, join here.

We continue to post our meetups in Drupal.org's Community Events section.

For now, RSVPs for our meetups are in our Meetup Group, but this might change in the future. Best to be in our Slack channel or on our email list.

Hope to see you at an upcoming meetup!

Does anyone have a good procedure for migrating my live site to a local host?

I want to create a local copy of my site, but I'm really having a hard time getting it to work right. I've gotten close by using phpmyadmin to export/import the database, but things are kind of hokey. None of the java scripting works, and my theme/css is not quite right.

I've also tried the backup and migrate module with little success.

Maybe there's some tricks I can do to the live site to make it easier? I have the boost module enable. Maybe that is causing some of the issues?

Thanks.

Drupal living in a subdirectory, needs to respond to www and not look like it's in a subdirectory

I am at a loss here.. A site I am working on has been under a /beta folder sub to webroot (/public_html/beta), and to make it live, rather than moving to root (and having naming conflicts with other lesser apps), we've opted to have htaccess rewrite ^www. over to /beta. Looks good at first, but now Drupal produces links and reference to webassets as /beta/contact, /beta/about, etc.

Is there a way around it? I have tinkered with $base_url in settings.php and RewriteBase in Drupal's .htaccess.

Would prefer not to employ a proxy. Is there something simple we are overlooking?

New Fields not appearing when creating content

Hello Everyone,

I've created a new content type for my website, and defined some new fields, like a text field, because I eventually want to use the fields in a view. However, when I try to create an instance of this new content type, I don't see these new fields. I've done this before (about a year ago) and can't remember having this problem.

Does this ring any bells for anyone?
