This group should probably have more organizers. See documentation on this recommendation.

At its core, image handling also deals with files, so the FileAPI SIG will have content of related interest.

A few of the image handling items to discuss include: file storage, derivatives (thumbnails, resizing), image manipulation (cropping, watermarking, etc.), galleries, CCK image node.

Now that FileField and ImageField have stable releases (both 6.x-3.0), it's time to join forces and integrate ImageField with the WYSIWYG editors our clients love (need) so much. Some projects exist for Image and work very well, many of them plan to support/switch to ImageField at a later stage, and it's just difficult for me to decide which project to help. For you too ? Or are you involved in one of these modules ? Please help by editing this wiki page.

The presenters of this panel, including Aaron Winborn (aaron), Arthur Foelsche (arthurf), and Alex Urevick-Ackelsberg (Alex UA), will discuss the ongoing efforts of the Media Sprint by the Drupal Media working group to bring to fruition the Media module and related work.

This panel will begin with a demonstration and discussion of the current state of the ongoing development of the Media module, and a thorough examination of the concept for its extensible API. Finally, we'll discuss the near and far-term plans, including the Media Sprint planned for the next day of the Open Media Camp.

Content Profile with image gallery

I am working on a site where I will use the content profile to let members create a node based profile.

I have been trying to find a module to handle an associated gallery for each profile, where the member can upload images to their own gallery. The closest I have fond so far seems to be Node Gallery, but it is still in alpha only.

I have also looked at Node Images, but since that is not storing images as nodes using a workflow will be more or less impossible.

Need "Spinner" and "Complete" icons

I have a request for a UI element if someone wants to make or find a GPL compliant icon set for the Media module. Here's the issue.

We need to have a spinner "progress" indicator (which should just be something that spins, as it's not true percentage complete, just a spinner telling us the upload is in progress). Then a checkbox or something to display when the upload is complete. Something similar to how YouTube does it. (I can attach screenshots of that if someone needs.)

I am trying to create an image gallery similar to Galleria: http://devkick.com/lab/galleria/demo_01.htm#img/grass-blades.jpg

I have a node type that has an Imagefield with multiple values. I use Contemplate to override the node output. I have the bottom part of the above example figured out: I use JCarousel where I place the thumbnails. Now what I don't have is a simple method that changes the main image when a thumbnail is clicked.

I am using Imagefield + ImageCache combination. Using code like this:

print theme('imagecache', 'preset1', $field_pictures[$image_index]['filepath']);

... I can get the HTML to show the image in a given preset. In my case however, I need to get only the path to the image, not the formatted tag. How can I do that? Read more

How to achieve this functionality with imagefield: one big image and a strip of thumbnails below?

I have a content type "Gallery", which has an imagefield with multiple images allowed. When my gallery is displayed, I would like to have:
1) The current (single) image displayed in larger size (proper imagecache preset used)
2) A strip of thumbnails below, that show all (or some of) the images in the imagefield so that the viewer can select from them.

Here is an example that has exactly this functionality (Coppermine gallery):

Can this be done with imagefield? Any suggestions?

4.7 --> 6 Image Content disaster. please help.

hi.
we just upgraded from 4.7 to 6. very happy with D6 UI and now happy with calendar/views (after some struggling). 2 problems re: images.

1) in 4.7, we used the image module and embedded images using TinyMCE into nodes (events and stories). when i upgraded to 6 (and updated to the latest Image module, none of our image nodes are showing the old images. they are still all there on the server, and i can manually embed them with WSIWYG, but why wont they show up on their own nodes? (i have checked permissions, btw). please help!

Media Sprint TODO?

The Media Sprint 2009 Wiki has a rough outline, based on an earlier document started by arthurf, but needs some serious fleshing out. I plan to begin working in earnest again on the sprint later next week and the following (am trying to slot 3-4 solid working days towards it).

There are also several volunteers who have offered to help over the coming weeks as well. We need to try to build some organization.

Unifying D6 Asset Management and Looking Forward to D7

I am immensely interested in getting a rock-solid asset management system in place for Drupal 6, and my company is willing to pay for the work involved (my time spent). The purpose of this discussion is to 1) make sure that my assessment of the situation is accurate / common and 2) to make sure that whatever I come up with will be relatively forward-compatible with D7.

I am a convert from Wordpress and am struggling to get a grasp of how to handle images here on Drupal. I'd love to participate in the discussion. At one point, before an major upgrade, I had a great recipe for images on the Wordpress side of things. I'd like to share this and see if I'm missing some modules or tricks that I haven't found yet, or if some of my desires don't mesh with the Drupal way and have some future pitfalls lurking.

My recipe was as so:
1. At content creation images can be uploaded, browsed and manipulated. (Accomplished with IMCE. Love it!)
