The group to discuss administering the groups.drupal.org web site.
We also have an issue queue for the groupsorg.module that runs on this site for things that need code changes.
Maintainer advice:
Drupal Association Badge
The 'My Account' pages on g.d.o and d.o should have a option to embed the Drupal Association Badge. Maybe use a checkbox style similar to g.o -- It would be nice to verify the badge, so maybe provide a link to the association membership with the image?

Read moreNew Attendees tab on event nodes
I just added an Attendees tab to all event nodes on this groups.drupal.org site. This lists all users who have signed up for an event. Signup happens by clicking on a one of the node links that reads 'i am not attending'. I'd love someone to create two graphics which will sit at the bottom of event node views which encourage users to attend or unattend an event. The current link is a little too subtle.
Read more"Create a Story?" This is BAD UI!
Once upon a time, a developer named GreenJelly came to Groups.Drupal to write an article on how to make a Social Networking Unified Access Library (shameless plug http://groups.drupal.org/node/8371#comment-25572) and once he found the wonderful group that would support and talk about his idea, he would wonder around looking for a way to make a White Paper. At last, he was lost... He could not find a way to add a Article, he was stuck with a Story, and thus he wrote this fairy tail...
I think we should change it from Story to Article?

Read moreSessions on Community Infrastructure Wanted For Drupalcon 2008
My name is Matthew Pare and I'm a Co-Chair for the "Community and Core" track for Drupalcon Boston 2008. Over the last couple of weeks we have been planning and brainstorming to make Drupalcon Boston 2008 the best Drupalcon to date! One of our recommended track session topics is "Community Infrastructure" and since your viewing this post on the groups.drupal.org "Maintenance" group I thought you would be excellent candidates for submitting sessions on the topic.
Read moreTheme issue on polls
Hello, all,
I just created a poll at http://groups.drupal.org/node/8202 --
When viewing the page in FF 2.0.0.11, the list of groups overlaps the first line of the poll as seen here.
Targeting the poll-view-voting id by adding:
#poll-view-voting {
padding-top: 3cm;
}to the stylesheet resulted in this -- a vast improvement
There's probably a cleaner way to do this, but I'll leave that to the css gurus.
Cheers,
Bill

Read moreOG updated - private groups
I committed new code to OG today and rolled it to this site. We are now capable of completely private groups. Although we always have supported private content in a group, the group homepage has always been public. Thats not so anymore. A group can choose to be private now. I don't expect much use for that here, except for private planning groups like Drupalcon, Google Summer of code mentors, and so on.
Please let me know if you see funny behavior related to posting content or creating groups.
Read moreOur default input filter does not allow <br />
I just realized that our default input filter does not allow users to paste text with <br /> tags in it because they get filtered out. Of course, the <br> tag is allowed, but wouldn't it be better to let our users have access to both methods?

disabling @drupal.or logins
We need to do this prior to Drupal6 installation on Drupal.org right? Which will probably happen in the not-too-distant future given our tendency to install an RC on Drupal.org.
If so, we should probably make some front page posts and perhaps create a way to email all of the groups.drupal.org users who are using @drupal.org usernames
Or will their g.d.o logins still work after disabling them?
Read moreUI suggestion for the 'deleting a group' process.
Let's edit the help text for deleting a group. Right now, it says:
Group posts:
o Do nothing.
o Delete all group posts which don't also belong to another group.
o Move all group posts to the group listed below.
In addition to deleting this group, you may choose how to disposition the posts within it.

Read moresignup.module should support cck dates: groups.drupal.org help wanted
Now that groups.drupal.org is using date.module for its events, we really need someone to help signup module understand this date format. Please read this issue and consider writing the patch.
Read moreEvent.module replaced by Date.module and calendar.module
With some big help from KarenS, I've migrated this site to CCK date.module events instead of event.module events. Further, I've added a Group Events block in each group when the group has upcoming events (e.g. http://groups.drupal.org/mid-atlantic-usa). That block also notes the ical feed for that group.

Allow Revisions Tab for Authenticated Users on g.d.o
It would be great to allow authenticated users to see the revisions tab.
An example: Just today I was looking at chx's great new wiki page in the usability group regarding the Chris Messina critique of Drupal. I would have loved to be able to see the revision tab.
If folks don't want to do it for all nodes, at least it should be the default for Wiki nodes.
Recently d.o. has allowed authenticated users to see revisions. I can't think of a good reason not to.
Read moreType based distinction for events, location information
Currently, our event listing is a flowing river of information and it is quite hard to distinguish between different types of events. I proposed that we add an event type vocabulary, which allows events to be tagged as being of specific type. Let's collect the list we are interested in having for events:
- User group meeting
- Regional conference
- International conference
- Virtual meeting (IRC meetings, Drupal dojo)
- Training
Unmoderated groups
I unmoderated the wysiwyg and a couple of local user group groups. Hopefully I haven't overstepped... They seemed like reasonable groups. I didn't unmoderate the victoria one because it doesn't even have a description.
Is there a set policy somewhere on what groups are allowed and who is allowed to allow them? Obvious spam ones I delete but I'm never sure if I should be unmoderating the legit ones or not.
Thanks,
Michelle
