I run a group of tech entrepreneurs called Ultra Light Startups (http://ultralightstartups.com/) and I'm interested in the use of Drupal in startups for several reasons. Many of our members' startups are either already built on Drupal or they are evaluating use of Drupal for a project. Several of our members are also active in the NYC Drupal community. Also, after hosting an event on Open Source CMS's last fall, I became convinced that Drupal was the right platform for several of my own projects, including a planned major upgrade to the Ultra Light Startups site.
I've been to a few New York Drupal Meetups where I mentioned the group - including Jacine's excellent theming and design talk earlier this month, DrupalCampNYC, and others. Because of my personal interest in Drupal, I'd like to promote crossover attendance/membership amongst people interested in Drupal for startups.
My group is hosting an event tomorrow (Wednesday, July 1) on "Ultra Light User Experience" (see link). I know it is short notice, but I would like to invite anyone active in the New York Drupal group free attendance at this event (which is between $10-30 for everyone else). Of particular interest is 1) anyone working on a startup in Drupal 2) anyone interested in theming and design in Drupal and 3) top Drupal agencies interested in working on the redesigned Ultra Light Startups site. I plan on issuing an RFP for this shortly and I think attending our events and meeting our members will help prospective bidders understand the project - and hopefully get excited about it!

Yes, we have meetings regularly. You should sign up for our email newsletter or our groups on LinkedIn, Meetup, or Facebook (all linked from http://ultralightstartups.com/) if you haven't already to hear about upcoming events. I can't guarantee I'll make the same offer again though, that was more for last weeks particular topic.
What is your background with Drupal? Are you a developer yourself or do you outsource that? How long has your site been live?
