OpenPublish

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Community discussions around Open Publish distribution.

OpenPublish is a packaged distribution of Drupal, that has been tailored to the needs of today's online publishers. OpenPublish is ideal for the implementation of a variety of media outlet's sites including: online magazines, newspapers, journals, trade publications, broadcast, wire service and membership publications. Built and supported on standard Drupal core (currently Drupal 6x), OpenPublish features support everything from basic news coverage needs to Web 2.0 trends, social publishing, semantic tagging and topic hubs. Each component bundled in the distribution is well supported, documented and modularly designed according to Drupal's architecture.

Some useful links:

Important note: in order to fix consistency issues and critical bugs, in a timely manner, OpenPublish had to patch some third-party modules included in it. It's not recommended to independently update those. More information at: http://groups.drupal.org/node/60313

Events display - content type question?

Now I am really puzzled! An Events Views list on my site appears properly when the path is http://www.(site).com/events, but does not when the path is http://www.(site).com/events/term or any of the other Taxonomy terms.

at ../events the title, date, and address fields appear as I want them

at ../events/term I only get the date and address fields, no title field

I think I must have done something along the way to create this problem, as I recall it was displaying correctly a month ago, but man-o-man, am I stumped!

A rebuild of my older OP site

I starting using OP with version 1.6, but had issues in the upgrade process from 1.6 > 1.7 > 1.7.1, so I decided to essentially rebuild the site off of OP 2.3. (You can visit the redesign at www.scvbj.com)

OP provides a great framework from which to build a news site and the basic design elements are clean and non-obtrusive. It has really provided an excellent starting point.

I used Superfish menus instead of the built-in OP 2-tiered menus (I like this style much better). Also, Superfish provides unique classes for each menu item, so there is more flexibility in styling.

Logged-In Sub-Theme Help Needed

I could use some suggestions where to look to solve this problem: For logged-in users, the right sidebar content appears at the bottom of the page, just above the footer. When you are logged out, the right sidebar appears in the correct position. This is on nodes; the front page is fine. When I switch back to the Openpublish default theme, the problem goes away. (There is are CSS classes visible in Firebug of logged-in/not-logged-in, but I am not sure what to do with them.) Any wild guesses would be helpful.

OpenPublish: Where do I look to see what content has been created e.g. drupal admin/create content?

For example if I made a slideshow or an image content. Where (within drupal, i.e. NOT ftp or SQL) do I look to see what I have created. In ordinary drupal you could look up a user and see what content they created.

OpenPublish website for Greenlandic Broadcasting Corporation (KNR)

We've just launched a multilingual website (Greenlandic, Danish and English) using OpenPublish. The website was earlier in TYPO3 and has been migrated to OpenPublish. The case study is available at: http://www.srijan.in/blog/typo3-drupal-migration-knr-case-study and on drupal.org at (currently with images unpublished): http://drupal.org/node/1107896. Please leave your comments on the quality of the case study.

We'd like to see this promoted to the Home Page, as this is a first of it's kind migration (TYPO3 to Drupal/OpenPublish).

Cannot add, remove or customize RSS feed attached to article listings

I'm hoping that this is a really dumb/easy question.

I am trying to change the feed that is attached to my article listings pages. I have customized those listing pages with specific taxonomy and created a new feed to attach to it.

When I click the "Feed Settings > attach to" link in Views and select the specific article page and save it, it does not change the feed associated with that page. It still shows the default RSS feed "rss/articles/".

Trouble with new Context and CSS

I am looking for a little advice on some problems I have with a new context I created. Can anyone tell me how and where a new context gets a template or perhaps why a new context does not use the CSS of the rest of the site?

  • Also -

I have a new context set up and it displays the blocks I want in the regions I want, but the regions and blocks appear in a vertical stack, not horizontally, left-to-right. (Everything is fine in the out-of-the-box contexts.)

What I get:

Block
Block
Block

What I want:

Block Block Block

Displaying Twitter timeline with Twitter Pull

Hello all

First post, and quite new to Drupal, so sorry if this is a really stupid question (though would be great if it's a really simple answer)

I'm trying to get a Twitter public timeline to display. Using Twitter Pull, the Openpublish 'Our Tweets' block works fine. How do I get a similar block showing tweets from a different Twitter account? Is there a way of editing the OpenPublish Tweets block to pull from a different account, or do I need to set up a new block, and if so, how?

Fairly stupid, eh? Thanks to anyone who can take a moment to help

Adding divider to new view

Hi

I added a new content type, and a new view to view this content type as a list of nodes. Im using view for this purpose, but i cant figure out how to add the divider div between each node. I have compared to the existing view used for articles block listing, but i cant find any "divider" reference.

How is this accomplished ? I could add a border to the bottom in the div box, but then i would get a divider at the bottom, which i do not want.

howto change design of article nodes page

This might be a stupid question. But how do i change the design of the article page ?

I tried looking in the file

/var/www/data-debug.dk/openpublish/sites/all/themes/openpublish_theme/views/articles/views-view--articles--page.tpl.php

but i couldnt figure it out. I made some changes to the file and tried clearing the cache, but the changes did not reflect the rendered pages. I want to add a quote block to the article pages just like this page:

http://politiken.dk/kultur/scenekunst/ECE1228764/skandaleramt-spiderman-...

like the box with this text

How to create article teaser

Hi. If in an article i don't fill the teaser textarea, in article teaser mode i will see just article's title, publish date and an image, if i set one. Correct, because the teaser textarea is empty.
My question is: how, in that case,to automatically show an article teaser based on article body?

OP upgrade from 2.2 to 2.3. Some Features will not revert properly.

Hello,

I am working on upgrading OP from 2.2. to 2.3 and the Features below will not revert. The only override showing is for Permissions. I am also getting an error that goes away once reverting is successful on Features. See attached for that one. May not be related.

Thanks for the help!

Receiving an error everytime I change Calais terms

I am getting ready to deploy a new version of my site using OP 2.3. This is essentially a new site with all the content imported.

For some reason, every time I make changes to the Calais terms (delete terms and save) I receive this error on the node page.

Problems with OpenCalais taxonomy pages. What view controls them?

Hi,

We've got a problem on our site with how our different OpenCalais taxonomy topics are being displayed and aren't sure how it should best be dealt with.

First of all it seems that there are two types of views for different groups of OpenCalais taxonomy terms;

  1. The 'topics' view, which creates a readable, 'content about [topic]' page and already has a view created. This page is fine and looks like this; http://www.highfrequencytraders.com/topics/CME%20Group

(Author(s)) Node: Title not displaying in Views block or page

Anyone else have a problem with the (Author(s)) Node: Title field or any other field not displaying in blocks or on an Articles content type Views page? It's there in the Views preview, oddly enough.

I must have done something somewhere, but I can't figure it out. The exclude from display box is unchecked.

I can get the author node title to display in a cloned Views block, for what it's worth.
