Attached is the code for a potential new module for email newsletters (everything has .txt appended to the filename so I can attach it). It's called SunMailer; the code is based on the module The Cornell Daily Sun currently uses to send out its email newsletter.

I've mentioned on the group before that I've been working on a parser for FeedAPI (Drupal 6.x) to automate feeding AP Webfeeds into my site.

Well, after working with a developer, I have a working model now. It relies heavily on cck, ctools, eParser, Feed Mapper, and FeedAPI to get the job done, but it does work. It needs further development though.

The web presence of SpareChangeNews.Net remains, unfortunately, small at best. As a primarily print publication, we've had a hard time getting our writers and editors on board with the website, let alone our readers.

I'm leading the conversion of three NC newspapers to Drupal 6, the first of which is The Daily Reflector. With our first big Drupal 5 site completed (to be upgraded to D6 soon) and many lessons learned, I figured it was time to start contributing back in the form of writeups and possible modules with this project.

Hello Newspaper group! For those of you who don't know us, please allow us to introduce ourselves. We are the Open Publishing Lab, a research lab at the Rochester Institute of Technology that is researching new methods of content creation and developing open source applications for publishing across various media.

I am struggling to get my site on google news, its a news site but I get stuck with the sitemap.

Does anyone have a tutorial on how to get your Drupal site on google news? Is it really simple or is my struggle normal?

I'm in the process of planning a centralization of our workflow, so that a single story gets purposed multiple ways, and I was hoping to get some discussion going on this topic, perhaps sharing some brain cells and previous experiences with others on the group.

First, the idea: Currently we are copying and pasting from our news system (NewsEditPro) or InDesign (depending on which editor is working that day) into the Drupal system. It's not very effective obviously, but it's what we were forced to do for years using TownNews, and we're just now beginning to expand our sites.

Obviously, newspapers tend to upload a lot of images.

Our site is using imagefield and imagecache to upload images and to size them dynamically where needed. In our first month, we've already uploaded about 500 photos, all of which are just residing in sites/default/files and then the various imagecache subdirectories.

It dawned on me that the files folder is going to get ridiculously huge, upwards of thousands of photos in the first year alone.

I was curious how other newspapers are handling this.

I want to allow people to post classifieds anonymously but then if they register they then get those classifieds associated with their account.

An example workflow

1. User finds my site
2. User posts a job
3. User wants to register
4. User registers
5. User then sees post from before he/she registered in his/her profile/track page.

Has anyone done something like this before.
