Required for Publishing & Workflow

Stumbled on the Required for Publishing module module and it got me thinking a bit.

One of the sites I am working on is going to implement Workflow for more or less all content published on the site. Some content types are going to be quite complex with a lot of required fields.

Community Blogging Policy

As I move further into our new website, I'm very interested in opening the door for community bloggers. My bosses, of course, want some kind of clear policy in place governing community blogging, before we let people speak their minds on our site.

Can't say I really disagree with them, considering how easy it is to be sued in today's world.

I was curious as to whether or not anyone already had a policy in place for community blogging, or something I could look over to glean a few ideas?

Am I crazy for doing dozens of roles?

I'm working on building out user badges as a major feature on a news site, where users can submit or vote on various amounts of various types of content to get X or Y badge, some of which give the users new permissions and some of which are merely decoration.

Blog administration and control for media site

Hi,

I am working on a media site that will have a number of blogs. I have gone over every discussion in the Multi-user Blogging group as well as the last two years posts in Newspapers on Drupal.

Although I have tested many of the modules and techniques I found, there are a few things I haven't been able to find solutions to.

The main thing I found is that multi-user blogging seems to be geared at making it available for any user with a certain role to be able to create a blog. This is something we want to avoid since it needs to be controlled by admin and/or editorial staff.

What can Drupal do for my newspaper?

Hi everyone. I am new to drupal. I have a monthly publication that we want to take online and make it a daily site. I am by no means a CMS expert - far from it. I could use some help in setting up the site. I want something that looks professional, but am feeling somewhat overwhelmed by the process. I know what I want, but do not know how to get there. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance for your comments.

Best module for administering comments?

What are the modules you use to administer comments (aka, remove offensive comments) on your sites?

We've been using the Flag module. It meets our needs, but I don't like that I can't have a view of all the users' offending comments. I want an admin interface that gives me in the information to say "I banned you because of x,y and z."

I thought this would be a big topic for the Newspapers on Drupal group but I couldn't find much mention of administrating comments.

New Module for Email Newsletters

Attached is the code for a potential new module for email newsletters (everything has .txt appended to the filename so I can attach it). It's called SunMailer; the code is based on the module The Cornell Daily Sun currently uses to send out its email newsletter.

Create a template file for an article node

Hello,

I’m new to Drupal and I am curious if anyone can explain the best way to create a custom template for an “article” node so that an image with caption floats to the top left of a text area.

My goal is to make this an intuitive process for users, and not require them to do any sort of HTML editing.

Thanks in a advance for any suggestions!

Flags not showing link on the node

I'm trying to implement the flags module with an event. Basically, turning the default "bookmark this" flag to an "attend this" flag. In the display options I have checked "Display link on node page"; I have chosen the node type "Event"; I have designated the "authenticated" user to be able to use this flag; and I have enabled the "javascript toggle".

For some reason, the link is not showing up on my event node.

Any clues?

Thank you,
Joe

A Suggestion From A Newbie

Hi!

I´m a webdesigner and digital marketer from a Media Group in Portugal. I´m currently managing 3 web-newspapers that I´ve developed using HTML and Flash.

A couple of days, I´ve discovererd this group and I´m amazed because is exactly what I´ve looking for.

I´ve to start a development plan from a new webmagazine (it will be the first portuguese magazine (print+web) of rewenable energies), and I´m very tempted to choose Drupal for being the CMS.

Can someone offer me an objective analysis of Drupal's security?

I am currently using Drupal to build a Business Journal website for our newspaper.

In previous discussions with our corporate office (and web development team), my publisher mentioned that he liked a local site that happened to be built using Joomla. Our corporate development head then proceeded to bash the Joomla platform, as not being adequate for the needs of a newspaper, both for feature and security reasons... which I agree.

I know from the Drupal.org site and others that Drupal has been used to build many high-profile sites (Whitehouse.gov being one of them).

Modules to Paid Content site found!

Hello All,
I have found out a solution to creating a paid content site! I was 500 words into a wiki earlier when Backspace took me back a page and I lost it all, so you'll have to wait a few days before you have a tutorial, but all in all, you may be able to figure it out.

1.Ubercart (you're going to be using the built in role purchase system.) Ubercart will also create an account for the user. (I'm still toying with the best way to create the accounts)
2.CCK
3.The Field Permissions Module for CKK (which is quite awesome)

How to create video that overlays the page?

I saw a feature on a TV news station site that basically was a video of a woman and her daughter talking. It was green-screened and laid over the main news page. It was a 10 sec spot highlighting something in the community. Sorry, I can't seem to find the site.

Is there a module built that can allow me to do something like that?

Thanks.

My first concern is how to import all the articles with pictures into Drupal and make it
visible to the visitors if they decide to make a search in our archives. I am not sure how it has
to be set up alltogether to make it work. The file that i have right now it is a cvs.
Any help would be great.

Thanks for this amazing project.

Let's talk management of content.

Hello All,
Yet another topic of interest to me is content management, especially the management of e-papers and podcasts, both features that my site provides, and quite a few newspapers provide.

My site will feature a weekly/bi-weekly "e-paper" in PDF form, which I would enjoy delivering via email, as well as a podcast that is 15-30 minutes long, and is published daily. The biggest thing on my mind is, how do I deliver this content to subscribers in a fashion that is 1.easy for them, and 2.visually appealing. What modules and techniques can we take advantage of to deliver our content?
