Connecting with local PHP Developer community

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

It came to my attention that New York's PHP User Group is very big and rather active. I believe we should try to reach out to them and try to bring them over to our Drupal Group.

They have been established for much longer than NYC DUG and i believe we could benefit greatly from having them integreated with Drupal User Group as well as teach them to benefit from drupal.

I would like to hear ideas and discuss how we should approach this goal. After we come up with a plan, we would probably need a number of volunteers to visit PHP DUG meetup and give a talk on drupal and encourage them to come to our meetups and drupalcamps.

so how do you guys think we should proceed ?

Reach Out

I think it's a great idea to try and connect these two groups. The Philly Drupal group usually meets with the Philly PHP group and though it's a smaller group, I think it's worthwhile to pursue joint meetups for at least a few times a year.

Then again, if you can't stand hearing "Drupal? Whatever, I build my own CMS." then it might not be worth it.
