We have a great meetup this month in the San Gabriel Valley. Join us from 6-8pm at Fuller Theological Seminary, Glasser 110 on Thursday, July 24, 2014, for Drupal news and announcements, local job announcements, raffle prizes, community Q&A, lightning talks and full-length presentations.
You can join the video conference or go to https://zoom.us/join and enter meeting ID: 129 319 220
Are you new to Drupal or the SGV Drupal meetup? Come learn about Drupal and how others like yourself are using it for their project, business or organization. We promise not to talk down to you. Here's a testimonial from a happy attendee:
This is a very well organized and informative session. We got a good mix of senior developers and new comers and some in between. It is a pretty good turn out with 11 people considering it is in Pasadena right around rush hours. People are just terrific, very friendly and ready to help others. Feels like I have moved forward by leaps and bounds. Thanks everyone!

Presentations & Lightning Talks
Do you have a presentation or job announcement that you'd like to share with the group? Is there a topic about anything you'd like to see a presentation on? Post a comment below to let all the organizers and attendees know what you're interested in. Lightning Talks — brief, 5-minute long presentations on any topic related to Drupal — are very welcome.
Users Helping Users
The meetup this month will include Users Helping Users, which is a chance for members of the community to help and be helped by others with whatever questions and problems they're having with Drupal.
Please note that while Users Helping Users is not designed to be a replacement for bona fide consulting from Drupal professionals that there are plenty of Drupal experts and professionals who attend our meetups and sometimes they need help, too!
Agenda
Our meetups follow a basic format and start off with Drupal news and announcements, local job announcements, raffle prizes and full-length presentations. As always, we'll have community Q&A, during which time anyone in attendance can ask questions, divine answers from the crowd and give brief, 5-10 minute-long presentations known as lightning talks.
We will begin at 6:00

Date correction on Drupal Camp LA at UCI (Sept 6 & 7)
Great to see a SGV group flourishing.
Perhaps copied copy but just wanted to note a date correction on the Drupal Camp LA at UCI date as noted in Agenda. It is Sept 6 & 7.
It is going to be a great local event for both the Drupal community as well as those looking to improve their PHP development skill set in preparation for Drupal 8. As a first ever for our community, the SoCal PHP user groups (LAPHP, OCPHP, and SDPHP) and combining forces with Drupal Camp LA and putting together one (or two) tracks solely dedicated to PHP and there are some great ones submitted.
To name a few relevant PHP sessions....
HTTP Jeopardy - World's Favorite Transfer Protocol
A generally good one to become familiar with the protocol that runs the web and will give a better understanding if you are looking to get into REST services.
http://2014.drupalcampla.com/sessions/http-jeopardy-worlds-favorite-tran...
Building Web Service Clients with Guzzle
Another good one since Drupal 8 uses Guzzle for it's RESTful Service.
http://2014.drupalcampla.com/sessions/building-web-service-clients-guzzle
Dependency Injection
Symfony is heavy on dependency injection and as Drupal 8 utilizes Symfony, this i a great one to attend.

There's a chance I'll be on
There's a chance I'll be on the video conference. Let me know how it goes! Something has come up but I wish I could make it in person.
Sorry about the wrong announcements
Hi Guys,
Seems like I copied an old announcement section, 2013. Sorry about that. Seems like there is some confusion on the date. I have looked back on my records. We have been meeting on the 4th Thrusday of the month, except during November and December due to conflicts with the holidays.
I will correct the announcements.
Paul
Video conference URL and meeting ID
No worries, Paul. I think everything looks good.
Other than the dates, I think the next most important thing is that the conference URL and meeting ID has changed:
Join the video conference at https://glad.zoom.us/j/129319220
Or go to https://zoom.us/join and enter meeting ID: 129 319 220
See you on Thursday!
#2305017 regression bug in Drupal 7.29
Has anyone been hit by this regression bug in Drupal 7.29?
Files or images attached to certain core and non-core entities are lost when the entity is edited and saved
https://www.drupal.org/node/2305017
We can talk about it and ways to recover if your site has already been updated to 7.29.
Another item we can talk
Another item we can talk about at the meetup is this week's branching of Drupal 8 and how we're now using semantic versioning:

Viva Drupal 8.0.x!
Drupal 7 course at World Mentoring Academy
Michael Williams just posted this about tonight's Drupal meetup in Pasadena:
Thanks, Michael!
