Get free stuff at LA Drupal meetings

Hi folks, I'm sure you want free stuff. Well, you'll get it. Not only do all attendees get to be on the official beta of the XTND.US Drupal Themer's Kit Pro for Dreamweaver, but there's new offerings for our members. In looking to get more talent to volunteer and speak at our LA Drupal meetings I have outlined the various offerings below.

This is a list of all the related resources/links that were mentioned during this month's meetup.

Mark showed the use of taxonomy access control on the XPrize website. Below is the link to the lullabot article on using taxonomy access modules to control permissions for node creation.

My Vote for a Topic to Cover

In response to Chris' post on "What Topics Should Our Meetings Cover?" I vote for:

Keeping Dev & Production (Live) Sites/Databases Synced

I think this is a very diverse area of discussion with many different approaches. Unique environments can produce different challenges. Not everyone will want to push the same data sets the same way from dev to production. There may also be certain data points that you don't want synced across both environments. Many topics to discuss and methods to share.

Alternate time and location in Los Angeles?

Since I will never be able to make a 4PM Sunday meeting, I wondered if anyone was interested in alternatives. I could meet any weeknight evening, although Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are best. I am on the West Side, but I don't mind a little travel.

If there is sufficient interest, I can try to find a location.

Thanks,

Cary Gordon

Really enjoyed the meeting!

Just wanted to post in to say that I really enjoyed the meeting Sunday and look forward to the next one. I had a couple of notes with question marks after them and thought I might post them here for potential response. Don't know if anyone else had the same questions...

1) What is Open ID and what makes it so exciting to Drupal?

2) There was some discussion of a module for login customization. What was the name of it again? (I had "login tobaggan")

How does breaking off into metros affect the SoCal Group?

Hey y'all -

Really glad to see that LA now has it's own group. I was involved in the tail end of the discussion (w/ jpklein), and I'm unsure if the point that mikey_p brought up was talked about. Seems to almost make sense. If we take out all the LA and SD people (from the SoCal Group) who/what are we left with? Not sure if and/or what the proper procedures/protocol are for these types of things....
