The next general Downtown Los Angeles Drupal meetup is on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 and will be at Droplabs, your FREE Drupal event and coworking space in Downtown Los Angeles. Those interested in attending this meetup remotely are welcome to join us via WebEx.

Featured presentations at this meetup include a case study by Steve Rifkin (@steverifkin) and Stacey Rifkin (@HardCards) on the Hard Cards marketing and e-commerce website, which uses Drupal, Ubercart, terrific design and IA, and custom theming to bring it all together. The presentation will focus on administering a Drupal site from a beginner's stand point and both the positive and negative experiences that come with that.

What are Hard Cards, you ask? In short, they're hysterical, 100% recycled greeting cards that will make you pee in your pants.

Our meetups follow a basic format and start off with Drupal news and announcements, local job announcements, breakout sessions, raffle prizes and full-length presentations.

As always, we'll also have community Q&A, during which time anyone in attendance can ask questions, divine answers from the crowd and give brief, 5-10 minute-long presentations known as lightning talks. We'll finish off the night with more networking and a Drupal After Dark at 9:00pm.

We're happy to take part in yet another Drupal Coworking Friday, a free coworking day at Droplabs, your FREE coworking and hackerspace in Downtown Los Angeles.

Drupal Coworking Friday is a worldwide event spurred in part by the DrupalEasy Podcast #65, which featured Droplabs.

We're in Downtown Los Angeles and are happy to host members of our local community and anyone who is just passing through for some coworking, networking and collaboration. We'll be offering the following FREE services to help rock your workday:

• Free parking on Clover St. and N. Main St. and in our large parking lot
• Free, metered WiFi
• Desks, chairs and Ergotron mobile workstations in our open coworking room (on a first-come, first-served basis)
• Hundreds of square feet of whiteboard space

Drupal meetups are officially back in the San Gabriel Valley and are now on the 4th Thursday of each month. Following our reboot of the SGV Drupal group with our Reboot and Drupal After Dark at Intelligentsia on May 17th, we're meeting this time at Il Fornaio in Old Town Pasadena on Thursday, June 28, 2012 from 6:30-8:30pm. p>Come out and learn about using the Workbench Drupal module. If you haven't heard of workbench, it's a suite of modules that provides easier content management for site administrators. We will look at some possible use cases, for example providing an editorial workflow in Drupal (Workbench Moderation) and setting hierarchical permissions across "sections" of your web site (Workbench Access).

Come contribute! The 4th Monday in Long Beach we have meetups ... (the 4th Monday to coincide with core office hours).

Join us in Long Beach or meet us online in our google+ hangout. The first few meetups have been fantastic! During each we've contributed patches and/or helped to give back. Want to help? There truly is something for everyone to do.

We've planned a site visit to io/LA on June 13, 2012, at 1pm, to determine if it will work as the venue for the free Drupal Design Camp conference we're planning for October, 2012. In the tradition of several other site visits that we've gone on, this visit is open to anyone and is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in starting to help organize this event.

This group discusses the subject matter of book, points out the errors in the book and discusses the differences between Drupal 6 and Drupal 7. New members are always welcome! This study group also discusses how to write modules, the Drupal API, what is a hook. The subject matter of the book is well suited for module development.
