Is any module able to provide "add to my calendar" link in a date node

Hi, there

I am working on a project here, part of it is about date & calendar modules.
I created a date content type with a date field, used it to publish event node.
Then I hope I can add a field on this type, which can export the event information in every node into Google Calendar and ical format.

I am wondering if there is any module can do this job, or any way can realize this idea.

Thanks

Programmes and Courses Catalogue

I want to create a programmes and courses catalogue. To achieve this I am thinking these steps :

  1. Create a content type which contains the programme's details and named it Programme, eg. Bachelor of Engineering.
  2. Create another content type which refer the programme as a parent and named it Course, eg. Electronics Lab.
  3. Add another reference where the course have dependencies with another course, eg. Electronics Methodologies (a dependency of Electronics Lab)

Is there any module for this or any other way?

Facebook integration for Media Module

All,
Has anyone had any experience hooking into Facebook to allow a user to pull photos from their profile (other than just their profile photo) to use in a site? We're brainstorming an image aggregation site for the University and seeing as pretty close to 100% of students now use and post photos to FB, this would be a really key ingredient.

I've seen http://drupal.org/project/media_facebook but it looks like the maintainer isn't actively working on it and has no current plans for a D7 port. Is there anyone else for whom this would be of value?

Acquia Search

Anyone have experience working with AcquiaSearch or Apache Solr?

We're looking at using one of these on our flagship web site (ColumbusLibrary.org) and are running into issues with firewall problems with AcquiaSearch, among others, since AcquiaSearch is a "cloud" solution. Seems like the setup for Apache Solr is complicated.

Also curious what the real pricing is for AcquiaSearch, Acquia is not very clear on what we'll really be charged - using mysterious "slices" for tiered pricing.

Drupal as a portfolio vs. Iweb

I have a variety of thoughts on this but am interested in hearing the community perspective. Our school is thinking about using Iweb for student portfolios. Although Iweb is easy to use and the sites the students could create look great out of the box I don't this solution is the right choice. I am looking for ideas on why Drupal would be a better choice. For example, being able to analyze student reflections using Views could be very valuable for system wide learning.

Strange OG duplicated node permission error

I hope someone has run into something like this before... I'm using a group who's form duplicates nodes and automatically associates them to the new group. So you create a group, select a book in the system and it will grab the book, duplicate it and set the og node settings to the new group. Then it performs a node_save after removing the nid so it's a "new node" with the old content / hierarchy.

Spec'ing Drupal Jobs

Hi Guys,

While I was entertaining the relatives this weekend, I couldn't help thinking about Drupal. It's a sickness really. I need to seek help. Before I do though, I wrote this blog post on the key areas I feel need to be explored before taking on a Drupal project. As we all know, some projects are bad bad bad. Some projects are really good. Going through this long rant list that I've compiled should give the new folks the benefit of what some of us older guys have already suffered. It's on my blog here: http://www.drupalcreations.com/blog/drupal-specifications Please feel free to disagree and comment in sarcastic and critical tones. Ideally we get a thread going and share some of the wealth.

I'm off to seek help now :) ,

Views Module displaying date problem

Hello,

I am new user in Drupal and I am creating e-learning site, I have created table of courses that contains start_date & end_date. and another table of classes. As each course will contain number of classes.

  1. when the views displayed the values of start_date & end_date fields, it was 01/01/1970 Although the correct value in the database is 22/1/2011.
  2. I need to add to each colomn (delete link, add class link, list course classes link).
  3. How can I send user.uid as an argument in the url to filter the retrieved courses to be for the current logged in user or instructor.

Drupal consultant with higher education experience?

Hi all,

We're looking for consulting firms with Drupal expertise -- and experience working with higher education -- to redesign a university Web site.

Basically, our main site is static HTML and we've developed a campus portal using Drupal. We'd now like to adopt Drupal as our global CMS. Ideally, we'd be looking for a firm that could help us work on our communication strategy, redesign and re-architect our site, help us a bit with creating stronger content, and implement it all on Drupal.

Video design variable considerations

I've recently finished a big video project, hoping to be the next big YouTube. I'm hoping they are too. In the process I encountered a host of different challenges as you do with any new project. I thought I'd share some of the critical success variables back with the community. Hopefully, I'll help you avoid some of the growing pains I suffered through.

E-learning portal for Palestine...A 4 year project

Dear all,

The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher and Education has started the process of implementing a humongous 4 year e-learning project covering private, UN and last but not least public schools in Palestine. We are now reviewing options for a strong and stable platform for ELMS, CMS and WBT; where teacher/student usability, interface and interactivity are the top priorities for us.

Appreciate your feedback, on the pros and cons of Drupal for such a task as well as assistance on certain modules that prove themseleves and can make our efforts a success.

Presenting at k12 Tech Conference in Wisconsin

I am going to be presenting on Drupal at a k12 technology conference in Wisconsin Dells at the end of Feb. I hope to drum up some more interest in Drupal for schools in Wisconsin. Anyone have any pointers for a presentation like this? I plan to talk about what Drupal is, what it can do, how easy it can be to use, and probably do some demonstrations.

Centralized authentication for Drupal & Moodle

Hi all,

Looking for some ideas on the right solution here. We are building several Drupal sites with a common user audience. These users also will be accessing Moodle content via hyperlinks from Drupal (i.e. we are not directly integrating Drupal and Moodle).

Looking for a centralized authentication server implementation that can:

<

ul>

  • protect both Drupal and Moodle sites
  • support true single sign-on (i.e. no re-prompting for credentials when users go from one Drupal site to another, or from Drupal to Moodle, or from Moodle to Drupal

ELMS now organic groups based (new distro released)

An Alpha 2 distribution of ELMS was released today. The most notable feature is that it's completely different in every way. No but seriously, it's no longer dependent on a multi-site architecture and instead is now running off of Organic groups.

In plain english -- It's really easy to install now.
