Volunteer for the Bay Area Drupal Camp and learn how to design for Drupal community events. You will work with the current BADCamp team to assisting in making this BADCamp the most magical yet.
In its 7th year, BADCamp provides four days of training, summits, sprints, sessions, BoFs, jobs, networking opportunities and more!

Drupalcamp Târgu Mureș 2013
The Drupal Romania Association Board is proud to announce the city of Târgu Mureș as host of the 2013 Romanian Drupalcamp. The event will take place during 2nd and 3rd of November. This is the fourth major event of the Drupal Romania Association after its founding, back in 2010. Previous Drupalcamps were held in Timisoara (2010), Bucharest (2011) and Arad (2012).

Mobilizing Bangkok/Thailand Drupal community - first large meetup at Microsoft
Around 40 Drupalists and people curious to learn Drupal gathered right before Christmas on 20 Dec 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand. The first regular large scale Drupal meeting in Bangkok saw many Drupal developers sharing their experience and demoing their sites. Hans Christian Schrøder, immediate former president of Drupal Association Norway and myself (Sven Berg Ryen), president of Drupal Developer Network (Singapore) shared experience of organizing meetups and ways to get the community engaged. The venue was kindly sponsored in kind by Microsoft Thailand through Prisda Gomutputra.
Earlier in 2012, a meetup was organized in July by Sven and Hans Christian, and another meetup in September by Sven. It's now great to see that there will be regular meetups at a venue that offers projector and classroom facilities.
Interest in regular meetups
As the local developers presented themselves, it was very clear that there was a strong interest to learn about Drupal. Experienced Drupal developers were also sharing a lot, both in English and Thai. Towards the end, a poll was taken, and the group decided to meet once a month on Mondays. The next meeting will be held 28 Jan at Microsoft Bangkok, 38th Fl. CRC Tower, All Seasons Place.
Challenge of bilingual drupal communities
Language was not a problem at the meetup. A few people spoke in English and a few people in Thai. The key elements of the Thai conversations were translated to English without disrupting the flow of the meetup. As the majority of people in the room spoke Thai, this was really okay.
The main challenge when it comes to language is in finding learning resources for those new to Drupal. There is very little knowledge shared in Thai about Drupal, which represents a problem for those not fluent in English.
A good way to increase and grow the Drupal community in Thailand will be sharing of knowledge in blogs and online articles that can be found through online search. Hopefully local Thai developers can also share/present at meetups partially in Thai.
Should slides be in English/Thai? I actually can't say for sure, though the focus for growing drupal in Thai needs to be put on creating resources in Thai language, so that the meetup and community is most welcoming to developers that find Thai more convenient than English.
Visiting Thailand as a drupalist?
Come present something and share your knowledge with local drupalists. There's a contact form on the meetup page that you can use to get in touch with the organizers. With the many options for beach, sun and relaxation in Thailand, you might even want to use the Drupal meetup as an excuse to spend time in Thailand ;)

Community sessions at events are not really working
First off, I hope this is a good place to post this. If not, let me know and I'll make sure to move it.
A little background
I've presented at many Drupal events, both camps and cons, for years now. I often present on community topics, and generally, unless I am a keynote, the audience at these sessions is, in a word, disheartening. Often the audience is very, very small, and composed of people who already "get" what I'm talking about, so I feel like I'm preaching to the choir instead of reaching a lot new people. Don't get me wrong, I have definitely met great people, gotten new people excited, and felt some great successes from my sessions. But, those are definitely rare, and when measured against the time and energy required to give a presentation, it's frustrating. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.
I'm honestly getting tired of doing community-focused sessions at events, but I feel like many of these sessions are important conversations for our community. Here are some of my thoughts about this issue going forward.

Drupal is going to be spread out and exposed bigger than ever in Korea soon.
Drupal Camp Seoul 2012 is scheduled on Oct 6th 2-6PM for 100 seats and already more than 111 people signed up for 120 limit signup capacity.
Not many people ever heard of Drupal in Korea and this camp is not like other drupal camp in USA or European countries.
It is more like introducing Drupal along with other CMS.
I wondered if Drupal Association would be interested in supporting to spread out Drupal in Korea with this event.
One thing I thought was having video setup and edit and share/upload.

On behalf of the SF Bay Area Drupal community, I want to invite everyone to attend this year's Bay Area Drupal Camp (BADCamp) hosted on the beautiful campus of the University of California at Berkeley from Thursday, November 1st through Sunday, November 4th. Now in its sixth year, BADCamp is the flagship Drupal event of the San Francisco Bay Area and is expected to draw almost 2000 attendees for four days of summits, sessions, sprints, and social events.
