Community discussions around Open Publish distribution.
OpenPublish is a packaged distribution of Drupal, that has been tailored to the needs of today's online publishers. OpenPublish is ideal for the implementation of a variety of media outlet's sites including: online magazines, newspapers, journals, trade publications, broadcast, wire service and membership publications. Built and supported on standard Drupal core (currently Drupal 6x), OpenPublish features support everything from basic news coverage needs to Web 2.0 trends, social publishing, semantic tagging and topic hubs. Each component bundled in the distribution is well supported, documented and modularly designed according to Drupal's architecture.

Important note: in order to fix consistency issues and critical bugs, in a timely manner, OpenPublish had to patch some third-party modules included in it. It's not recommended to independently update those. More information at: http://groups.drupal.org/node/60313
Suckerfish Menus and OP 2.0
Before I'm hit on the head and shoulders for bringing up another menu question ;), I've tried to use a custom menu as a block, but I can't control (seems to work only with pages and not nodes of taxonomy) where it appears.
Anyway.
I know the instructions provided early for adding nice menus to OP work. However, I want (if possible) to retain the OP primary menu style. What css do I copy to nice menu to retain the OP menu appearance? Thanks.
Read moreWarnings and problems after installing OpenPublish
Hi!
I just now installed OP on a site of mine - but I I'm having lots of user warnings... These come on the homepage alone:
Read moretopichubs error after upgrade from 1.7 to 2.0
warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /sites/all/modules/topichubs/topichubs.module on line 165.
This is the error I get after upgrading OP from 1.7 to OP 2.0. I do not need the topichub but I cannot disable it either as op_defaults also gets disabled. Interestingly, op_defaults is somehow connected to frontpage-featured-image. So if I disable topichubs, the images go vanished.
Also there are hundreds of errors shown in the log file, all are similar to the following:

OpenPublish Documentation - Now With Comments
In order to provide better, richer documentation, we have enabled commenting for OpenPublish documentation's book pages @ http://openpublishapp.com/doc/
Documentation is strictly moderated for spam and off-topic. We have to apologize for overly restrictive moderation and we may relax it in the future, but for now this is the only way to ensure that we do not end-up with long pages of disjointed discussions.
Read moreBlocks and Taxonomy
I am using the menu blocks module to display parts of my primary menu items in blocks in the right sidebar. I want to display the blocks in certain sections (an 'Inside Sports' menu block would appear only on the Sports term of the 'Topic' taxonomy. My problem is blocks can only be limited by page (about, front, etc.) and not taxonomy.
How do I limit block visibility based on taxonomy?

Read moreFeature Request: Built-In Drop-Down Menu Support
My site has grown to the point where I need a secondary level of links. The most straight-forward method seems a drop-down menu (although I researching alternatives). Has anyone installed a drop-down menu with OP (and retained the OP CSS)? Alternatively, can a drop-down menu solution become part of the next OP update?
Read moreOpenCalais Top Level Taxonomy Terms
This is really more of a module question, but I'm guessing the people using OpenPublish probably have the best familiarity with the the OpenCalais module and it's blacklisting capabilities.
Does anyone know if it's possible, and how to do so, to blacklist the top level Calais suggested terms?
For example, the Calais Document Category vocabulary?
Or another example would be the Social Issue term. They appear under Calais Document Category and under the Social Tags vocabularies, and it causes double display when using the print tags code.

Just a couple things.
- Installing OP on Dreamhost.
In the past couple days I've been working on my site at DH. I thought it would be a big problem installing it based on comments I have read. However, since I just upgraded to a PS account there I decided to try it fresh with OP 2.0. Result? First time, and quick. What a comparison with installing it on my home computer. I had to keep upping the time out times. Anyway, it does work on PS at Dreamhost just fine so far.

Not real clean when users have to navigate away from your content when clicking on a link.

I'm getting tired of repeatedly uploading the same photos. Is there some sort of ability to create a library of already uploaded images that can be used? Joomla and others have such a feature, why not Drupal (at least a module)?

Well, just kind of looking at this group it seems as it is more used for just support request. Wouldn't there be a better place for this stuff, like an issue tracker or something, so we can keep this space for discussion about new features.
Well, there are some important features, I think are missing:
- Timebased publishing combined with workflows. There are some good modules, but none cover all the needs (I can get into this more in detail)
- The whole navigation problem setting the active menu item (which doesn't work right now)
- content locking

Openpublish, Quark and Indesign
Hi All,
I am trying to design an online newspaper site with Openpublish.
The firm need to send the online edition (after some editing) to the press for the printed version.
The press is using Quark and Indesign.
How can I accomplish this?

Thanks in advance

I apologize for asking this here, but even after searching for an answer, I don't quite understand how to fix this.
On my homepage (http://beta01.scvbj.com), I have a sky scrapper tower ad position on the left side that doesn't properly clear the block above it in Internet Explorer 7. I know that there's a bug in IE 7 regarding this, but I don't understand how to apply a fix.
Can someone please help me properly clear my sky scrapper ad?
Thank you very much.
