This is a local user group for sharing knowledge about Drupal and networking with other folks in the greater Seattle web/tech community.
SeaDUG meets monthly to talk about Drupal, to plan related events, and to socialize. During SeaDUG meetings we showcase modules and projects, share tips and tricks, and answer nagging questions about Drupal.
We welcome participants from all skill levels and all disciplines related to website building and development - marketers, project managers, developers, designers, writers, devops, user researchers, QA, and more.
Stay in Touch
- Join the SeaDUG Slack workspace to chat regularly with other SeaDUG community members.
- Follow us on LinkedIn for more frequent news and Drupal-related content sharing.
Jobs
PLEASE do not post job offers in this group unless they are local to Seattle, or remote and open to people who live in Seattle. Any job posted to this group that is not in the Seattle/Puget Sound Metropolitan Area or open to its residents will be promptly removed.

Noob question re: content types
I want to create a custom content type in which I override the template for the content type generated when creating a content type using the usual "add content type". The content type generated the usual way has too much cruft that gets in the way of theming the content type using CSS.

Hi, this is Cliff, first time attendee at the August Seattle group meeting. My first web site is progressing pretty slowly (mostly due to slow client response), and I'm finding myself with some spare bandwidth.
If any of the other noobs at the meeting would like help/collaboration/whatever, feel free to contact me.
Any suggestions for modules to use on any basic Drupal site?
Hi! This is Susan. I attended the August meeting since I am looking to build my first Drupal site. I'm interested in downloading some "must" modules that mostly any Drupal site will use so I can familiarize myself with the process and use them as a starting point to build my site.
Jared went through a pretty extensive list (which I admit I failed to note them all,) but does anyone else have suggestions for useful modules too?
Thanks for your help!
Questions from the noob
Already posted in the August meeting discussion, re-posting here:
Hey guys, a couple of questions from the new guy at the meeting this week, if not interested just ignore.
I'm currently starting on my first web site. The Seattle tango community has a community website used for event announcements (http://allseattletango.com/) and I'm trying to create one for the Seattle salsa because one currently doesn't exist.

I'm having a problem getting my GitHub web hook to work properly. What I'm trying to do is to automatically pubilsh to a web server once the master branch has been updated from a private repository. The problem that I'm continually running into is the server keeps prompting for username and password, and this stops the script dead in its tracks.

During the MWDS on August 15-17 there will be a sprint focused on getting modules ported to D8. It seemed like this would be a fun event to participate in and that it might work to do it remotely. I've been tossing the idea around a bit with XJM and it sounds like it could go something like this:

Agenda
This month we will be discussing the integration of WYSIWYG editors and Drupal. Drupal has historically not included a WYSIWYG editor in the core package and due to the pluggable nature of the system there have been a number of different component “recipes” that have been developed and some that have been identified as “best practices”. The installation and configuration of a WYSIWYG editor in Drupal has notoriously been a complicated and often painful process. Please come and share your tips, trick and suggestions about the approaches you use when you build sites with WYSIWYG editors.
