Webform in block follow up

At our meeting the other night, I asked about adding a Subscribe To Mailing List form, with input field for email address and Submit button. Turns out the last upgrade to WebForm includes an option to expose in Block. So, I have chosen to use Webform for all three types of sub forms needed on the site.

The method to embedded a Webform in a view to get it into a block is not needed. And the module "Webform in Block" is not needed.

The best part is other enhancements are present as well, and I wanted a few of those.

Single login-less or one-time login links

Hi all,

I have a Drupal question you might have some insight on. I am working on a drupal site and some of the changes require approval from other members of the company. These members are always going to be changing depending on the area of responisbility. Additionally the team decided that they would rather not have these members log in to the site as the amount of lost passwords, etc. might become a larger issue. The links are sent via email to various people only to LOOK AT but not change existing content and how it would appear on the page or section.

Growing With Drupal: Camps, Code & Cash

The last few months have been fun visiting, sponsoring and presenting at Camps. Achieve attended camps in Atlanta, Austin, Phoenix, Berkeley and LA. It's been expensive and hard work along with educational, inspiring and fun. So the lessons we've learned are:

  1. Drupal is growing rapidly beyond small sites and single developers.
  2. The community is expanding
  3. Drupal shops are taking a lead in the expansion
  4. Drupal is becoming a business
  5. The camps are getting bigger, more organized and larger attendance
  6. Developers & Dev shops are specializing and finding specific niches

Server backups

I've recently migrated from a server that did automatic backups by default to a VPS where I need to make all the calls. I need to set up a backup system but am not sure what the best course of action is. Some options I'm considering:

<

ul>

  • Using rsync with a remote backup service such as http://www.theserverexperts.com/services/backup.html or http://rsync.net/
  • API-based file storage such as http://www.rackspacecloud.com/cloud_hosting_products/files or http://www.opsource.net/Services/Cloud-Hosting/Cloud-Files, in which case I would need to create a script for backups

For those intereted in the multi-day calendar patch

If you are interested in testing out the multi-day calendar patch that I demoed in the lightning talk, goto http://drupal.org/node/931392. Please let me know if you have bugs/issues/suggestions/complaints with it. Probably best to include them in the issue instead of here, but I thought I'd provide the link for convenience. Thanks!

    Drupal Scalability and Traffic Handling

My company is looking for better tools/softwares to migrate our dynamic content pages and community.

Community is comprised of Forum, Wiki, Groups, Blog, Bug Tracker (integrated to Jira). The site needs to also handle multi-languages where approved members will be able to translate blog posts/wikis/etc to their own respective languages. e.g. If a translated English blog post is available in French, only the French version will be displayed if switched to French language, etc.

Free "Getting Good with Git" ebook in October

First time posting to LA Drupal (long time follower) - I hope I'm putting this in the right place. I just ran across an announcement in my twitter feed that I thought I'd pass along here. Tuts Plus is offering an ebook "Getting Good with Git" for free during the month of October. I've been putting off learning any kind of VCS for too long but thought this looked like a pretty good, easy to read book worth looking into.
