A school design
Hi all,
Just to have a basic design question (I have searched all over the discussion forums and not yet able to any.)
Scenario: A school has a group of teachers who are teaching their subjects (e.g. Math, English, Science, etc..). A website is needed for students to pick a subject and ask question about that subject. The teacher, who is in charge of the subject will receive notification and respond to the student. Once it is responded, it will be made available to all students.

In the most active list at YC News there's an interesting discussion about unfilled Perl jobs in Los Angeles. Does anyone have any thoughts about whether this phenomenon has to do with the tech scene in Los Angeles or if it has more to do with the state of Perl?

Paypal recurring payments broke with the last update of Ubercart. There are bug reports at http://drupal.org/node/898050 and http://drupal.org/node/700270, but the problem has not been solved.
Are there alternatives to processing recurring payments with Paypal? Or has anyone gotten it to work on their site?

The client I'm working with right now wants to do email marketing. As I am nowhere near being a module developer, my basic questions, for anyone who has had any experience with this, are: Can Drupal handle automated mailing campaigns? What are it's limitations? Is it easier to integrate with an existing product? e.g. Infusionsoft www.infusionsoft.com

Wonderful Westside meeting tonight
I really got a lot out of tonight's meeting. Christefano's presentation on shared hosting and VPS hosting was excellent. Afterward, I went on to yougetsignal.com to check out how many other websites I share on my IP address -- and would you believe, it was 868 sites, and some of them quite "off-color"! Just more reason to go to VPS right now, and I have much more confidence I can make the switch easily after tonight's presentation.

Oliver brought up mobile web solutions at Tuesday's meeting, and today I saw this list. Does anybody have any feedback about any of these technologies, and how/if they can be leveraged in a Drupal site?

Looking to put together a show at a local club of all artists/musicians/bands who host their sites in Drupal. Call it DrupalCore Fest, or DrupalRox or something like that. I do not have a date, but have a potential space. Sometime in the fall, probably.
Or maybe you are a developer/designer who has built a site for a musician who could talk them into doing an event. Let me know! :)
My thought is to do this as part fund-raiser for the Drupal Association.
Reply if you are interested and the name of your project and site.
Read moreDedicated Drupal jobs site
Hi all,
We were wondering if a dedicated Drupal hiring site would be useful. At the moment jobs posts are sort of spread across a few sites, and the jobs section in g.d.o, while very useful, isn't really the best tool for the job (our own opinion, and from what we've been told).
So we thought we would create a dedicated site where you can post jobs, fixed bid projects and also apply for work and show off your Drupal dev profile. We want to keep the quality high and allow users to filter irrelevant content and spam. Most of all, we want this to be useful to the community.
