NYC Drupal Camps are free events, but we do need some sponsors in order to make it happen. Please get in touch with Eric to discuss sponsoring the event. As we have done in the past, any funds left over after we cover the costs of the event will be either donated to the Drupal Association or held to cover expenses of the next camp.

Proposed Presentations Table

Saturday February 28th
Name of Session Reference Link(s) Presenter(s) Summary
New Drupal 7 Features -- -- A wild tour of the cool new features and pitfalls can we expect from drupal 7
Drupal Hands-On Introduction IMPORTANT DOWNLOADS! Winstond, tom_o_t To include: Installation of a WAMP or MAMP env; Initial Drupal Install; Basics of Nodes, Blocks, Users, Permissions; Use of CCK; Image basics; Views "quickie" time permitting. IMPORTANT: Planning to sit this session? Make sure to download all the required files to your machine BEFORE coming to DrupalCampNYC6! Go to http://groups.drupal.org/node/19412 for specific instructions and links to what you should download as well as a proposed schedule for this session. Exact schedule will depend on when DrupalCamp itself starts of course.
Drupal Media Sprint Recap -- Darrel O'Pry Would love to hear a recap of this (see http://groups.drupal.org/node/18159) and where it is going. Hopefully dopry, arthurf, and/or aaron can come?
Drupal Media Sprint Leg 3 -- Darrel O'Pry Continuing work from the previous media sprints.
Mapping in Drupal gmap, location tom_o_t I can't teach you how to recreate CNN's election map, but simple maps can add a lot to a website - things like http://www.climbnyc.com/climb http://toiletradar.com/ and http://www.opengreenmap.org/en/greenmap
Drupal Semantics INFO, meetup, evoc, RDF CCK Marco Neumann, Benjamin Melancon, Stephane Corlosquet One of the key requirements for the Semantic Web to take off is the ability to express local content and its associated data model with existing well-known ontologies such as DC, FOAF, SIOC etc. RDF data with a local RDF schema that doesn't have any references to other schema is not very useful. We will present the latest developments in terms of RDF support in Drupal and in particular the modules RDF vocabulary importer [evoc] and [RDF CCK] which when combined allow to map local content models to external vocabularies and export a mapped local schema and RDF data. Existing sites using the CCK module can simply install these modules and get a default local RDF schema for free. They can also map their local CCK fields to external RDF terms from any ontology available online. If time permits, we will also talk about Neologism which allows to create and publish custom vocabularies inline with the RDF vocabulary best practices.
Advanced Multisite- Multivariate Module and Theme Inclusiveness -- ixlr8 Taking multisite setups to the next level from a systems administration standpoint. We will discuss wildcard DNS configuration, the delicate balance of the Apache vhost file for wildcard subdomain overrides, multivariate module and theme override theory, and much more. Although this session will be fairly generalized, it is not for the feint of heart. Many of the covered topics are very abstract.
Case Study -- GreatBrewers.com -- skyred Case Study--All New GreatBrewers.com. I usually like answering people's questions than I am doing a presentation
Drupal Beyond the Basics -- wildfeed I think it would be helpful for newbies to have a session on creating a sandbox and administering a Drupal site.
Using Drupal with Different Languages -- -- I would love to see a session talking about the multi-language support in Drupal.
Drupal Design -- -- It's always good to make our powerful work look amazing, too.
Drupal and Fedora (keishamia@gmail.com) -- presenter?? I think this would be a great session, as there are a lot of Librarians like myself, hearing a lot about the possibilities of using Drupal and Fedora Repository together.
Intro to drupal project specification for new to drupal folk -- -- I'd love to see an experienced builder do a presentation on the choices involved in putting together a site. Overall philosophy and other constraints that guided the choice of modules, description of any patches that were involved. If themed, some of how that was done and how/whether theme choice interacted with module choice. Best case might include a take-away downloadable or cd-available version of the site so folks can wrap their heads around details that may not be a part of the presentation.
Memcache installation/configuration -- -- Could any system admin/expert cover this part?
Creating and theming Views and Panels -- -- To take Drupal sites beyond the blog.
Demo - new module for mobile Drupal mobiledrupal.com Tom Demonstration and discussion of a new module for making your Drupal site mobile.
Theme Functions -- -- What are they? Which ones are used most often? Best practices? And how to create them in custom modules.
Stepping through a Drupal site step by step: using Eclipse and Xdebug -- Kipp Elliott Watson Did you know that every time a user goes to a new url in a Drupal site, index.php gets fired up? You can discover this and many other interesting things with a state of the art debugging environment --

NYC Drupal Camp 6?! let's start the ball rolling

I've heard some rumblings about the next drupal camp and figured that the discussion would be best posted here.

I would like to see us do the next Camp before the upcoming DrupalCon, maybe the last weekend in feb. or maybe even two weeks after DrupalCon, the 3rd weekend in March.

Considerations:
