How to begin

Hi guys,

I really need help.

I recently installed the Services Module and whilst I understand it is very powerful, I could not figureout how to set up any service.

I am in the final stages of developing an Android application. It has to connect to my Drupal site to upload data which will be saved as nodes or update existing nodes.

So for this process, I need the service module up, running and responding.

I need step-by-step and simple instructions please.

proposal: server related pages

Hello everyone,

I've just had a debate on the issue queue for core about Fast 404s and how to route around the issue of having Drupal be the 404 handler by default. The debate was enlightening for everyone involved I think. But the consequence should be a documentation page addressing the issue and the multiples available strategies for solving it.

Please forgive me if I'm posting this in an inappropriate place. I'm still new at interacting with the Drupal community. I am learning to setup webservers. Fun! I think I'm almost there, but need some help. Below is the situation as best as I can describe it:

****Software
Ubuntu 10.4
Vsftpd

****Config Files
/etc/profile - added umask 002 at end of file
/etc/vsftpf.conf - adjusted local_umask=002

Suggestion for performance nginx setup in CentOS 5.3

Hello,

Maybe next week I will setup a dedicated server.

Server hardware:
Dual core ATOM 330
2GB RAM
Swap: 2.2GB

OS: CentOS 5.3

Drupal:
-Use MySQL DB
-Use boost
(some of my website use statistic, some not, but all use boost)
-Lots of anonymous user, with high read & low write

For this serer, what I want is:
-highest request/sec
-lowest RAM & CPU usage

Below is what will I do, but because I dont have experience in nginx, so I hope there will be suggestion (Which one has duplicated function and can be ignored, or not enough something...)

Drupal Dev Environment Virtual Machine. Install notes and scripts.

Hi,

Imagine being able to teach someone to review/create patches, without having to teach them to setup a LAMP development environment.
Imagine windows and mac users, friends, learning together to do (blank) with a virtual machine development environment.

I created a virtualbox Drupal development image. I wanted a simple platform to collaborate with several others on for a project. I thought others might benefit from the work.

Features include:
- Slim lightweight image (OS+tools are under 1gig)
- LAMP with APC
- Netbeans and Eclipse with debugging

LA Code Sprint and Developer Workshop

I'd like to plan a workshop / code sprint within the next month in Los Angeles. I have a couple ideas on what we could tackle as a group, but am open to suggestions.

I'd like to accomplish two things in this session

1. Help mentor new developers teaching Drupal best practices and guidance in establishing/enhancing a good Drupal / LAMP development environments.
2. Create a new module from scratch - OR - fix a contrib module.

Let's create a site!!

First - I want to ask why we can't turn on subscriptions here on groups.drupal? We apparently have taxonomy_breadcrumb and a few other "non-core" modules working. We have 64 subscribers, and nobody knows when posts are updated here without coming back each day (which I get few of the 64 do). I think with subscriptions on we'd get a lot more participation.

Ok, enough of that. I would like to know who here is interested in participating in the mock creation of a drupal web site optimized for SEO. What I mean is - let's collectively write a cohesive plan for setting up the most optimized site possible.
