chx (Károly Négyesi) is coming to Los Angeles and he's asking the L.A. developers to bring it for what will be one of the final pre-d7 code freeze coding and testing sprints. There will be chocolate, and at some point beer.

Any Long Beach folks (cough Mike cough ;) ) want to meet up for lunch on this Friday, Feb. 6, 2009? Or if not this Friday, another? I work from home on Fridays and would love to shake some action here in the LBC. Just puttin that out there... Nothing extravagant, maybe a burrito place or something low key.

Drupal is a powerful tool for building amazingly scalable websites quickly and simply. The use of multimedia in Drupal has posed challenges to many users and developers of all abilities. Drupal Multimedia addresses the main questions regarding how to implement video, image, and audio content in a way that is elegant for the developer, as well as the end user. The language of the book is straight to the point, and provides a framework to practice building an assortment of multimedia sites using a variety of modules in the context of test or example sites.

I just read that DreamHost is running a New Years special on Hosting /
2 years for $11 (yep. $11) plus a Domain!

Now I am in No way advocating ANY hosting (honestly, I don't even host with DreamHost)
[just realized I just lost a few friends over at BarCampLA anyway :-) ]

Just figured I post it For What It's Worth if any LA Drupalers are looking for testing or simple site space.

If any Drupalchix are in or around the Los Angeles area, you might want to check out the So Cal Linux Expo (SCALE) Women in Open Source event. It takes place on Feb. 20th just before the full-on SCALE conference. They're accepting proposals, in case you want to speak. I went there last year and gave a crash-course on Drupal, and it was a really cool group. :) They invite women involved in open source software to talk about any number of things, from technical information to management strategies to social issues.
