LA Drupal Planet?

I was talking to Amazon briefly about the idea of submitting a Drupal specific RSS feed from LA Drupal.org to the Drupal Planet. Essentially we'd have an aggregate of all LA member blogs going out to about 16,000+ subscribers.

Any thoughts/opinions on that idea?

Forum on Social Networking at Caltech this Saturday

This may interest some people, especially the Community Buildrs subgroup. Unfortunately the event is not free, but it's cheap for students.

Lullabot Theming Workshops in LA

Hey there good people of Southern California!

In case you hadn't heard, the Lullabot training road show is making a stop in Los Angeles - February 4th - 8th. The team will be doing a full week of themer training starting with an Introduction to Drupal Theming followed by three days of Advanced Drupal Theming. So if you're looking to learn how to make great looking Drupal sites or learn some jQuery, come on out! There's an early bird discount on until January 11th and, as usual, you can register for both workshops and save.

We'll also be hosting an LA Drupal meetup while we're in town... more info on that coming soon!

LA drupal meetup

its that time of year! merry holiday cheers to all! :-P

due to the festivities this time of year, and for the second month in a row, it's interfering with my ability to attend a la drupal gathering. :(

was there even a meetup in November... ???

based on the activity in the group, it seems like there's not a good chance for a large turnout on the 30th of this month, either? I am hoping for a good meeting in January...

DrupalCon Los Angeles update - 2008 or 2009

I floated the idea of doing a DrupalCon in Los Angeles in Drupal Groups, with the thought that we could put in a proposal for Spring, 2009. Since then, Boris Mann informed me that the Drupal Association is actively seeking proposals for Spring 2008. This would make for an extremely tight schedule, with a lot of work to be done in the next 150 days.

Is there anyone who feels that this is something that we should pursue, and would like to step up in a (collaborative) leadership roll? If so, please speak up here, and feel free to contact me off list, if you wish.

DrupalCon Los Angeles?

I recently attended DrupalCon Barcelona, where I floated the idea to the Drupal Association Board of having a DrupalCon in the Los Angeles area in the Spring of 2009. To make this happen, we would need at least four people who would be willing to commit a significant amount of time and energy between now and the event.

If you are interested in working on this, please speak up. If there is sufficient interest, I will put together an organizing meeting where we can start planning a proposal.

I have already made exploratory contact with potential sponsors.
