Creating folder structure and giving folderwise permissions to user.

I want to create a three level folder stucture and in the last folder in each tree pages will be created and users will have permission to access the folder depending upon the permisions given to them. The user who has access to the parent folder should have access to all its child folders. And I want apply workflow to the pages the reviewers and publishers will change according to the folder in which the page is created.
How can I achieve this in drupal?

subdomain woes

I recently wrote a custom php script to catch a grade from Flash (Actionscript2) and pass it to the gradebook. It works fine on my test installation, but when I tried to move it to a subdomain of my production site, I'm getting a failure message from line 1009 of bootstrap.inc. Seems that bootstrap.inc can not find the other include files.

Booking teacher conferences - which module or modules should I use (drupal 6 site)?

Has anyone come up with a teacher/parent conference booking system yet? Every quarter our teachers need to book conference with parents. Teachers wish to list there available times and have the parents select a time-slot and book the appointment. Is there an easy module for booking appointments? I tried booking_timeslots but it messes up my school calendar, should I use the signup module and make every time slot a node?

Help needed for small Hawaii Charter School.

Student Online Testing

I have a client who has implemented employee training within Drupal and has had much success in showing who has accessed what pages... Now he has asked me to develop an automated testing process. I envision building a tool that will allow him to create tests for each class within a Course. Is there a recommended way using modules that will allow me to create an environment where he can create on-line tests per class? The student would take these tests online and he wants to give them immediate feedback on-line after it is submitted.

Thanks for your ideas!

Open Atrium & Gradebook Module for E-learning Feature

Firstly congrats to the Open Atrium team its a really impressive product and I think is going to be the basis for many effective communities... Thank you for your hard work.
As we have seen with DrupalEd , organic groups make great classrooms.

I think a really useful open atrium install profile that could be an e-learning system out of the box ... would be a combination of DrupalED and Open Atrium

I am planning to do some work to try and see what I can can do with creating some education orientated features for Open Atrium around the following modules

Drupal Security - installing Drupal on an institutions servers

Hi there

I've currently been testing Drupal on my own hosting space which has been fine.

I did this because at the Unversity I work at it can be a pain to get software installed - the server guys+gals are not that happy to see me put new software on our servers (we have two dedicated to our department) - understandably their concerns are security support issues etc. I wanted to see if Drupal was for us before I went through the process of getting it installed.

Ethics and virtual textbooks

Oi,

I wrote a short paper at:

http://coredogs.com/article/professors-sell-virtual-texts-ethical-problem

on the ethics of an instructor selling his/her own virtual text to his/her own students.

Please let me know what you think (or if you see any typos :-) ).

Rubric and Assignment Studio Modules Released!

I've been rambling / showing off aspects of these two modules for almost 1 and a 1/2 years now and FINALLY they have been completely rewritten in an open way. They are two separate modules though I'd recommend using them together as that's how they've been tested fully. They are currently being used during our active semester in 4 courses and so far results have been very positive. If you're looking to do online assessment with Drupal, this is a big component and I hope that I can integrate my solution with other projects discussed in this group.

How To: Generate Random URL

(Reposting...last post was deleted)

For certain content on a site, I want to implement "security by obscurity" by having the posts show up only in restricted views and by making the URLs for those posts a set of random, unguessable characters (like Microsoft does with GUID).

So, I need guidance in two parts:

  1. What module (presumably CCK-related) or trick will create a set of random, unguessable characters that I can then use as replacement token in pathauto?

Student Curriculum Website

I've recently been tasked with putting together a Drupal Site that will be used to provide students with steps on what it takes to complete their Technical Training at our College. We're not a traditional College—we are open-entry/open-exit and as such our students don't usually work together on the same things at the same time. The student needs to be able to log-in and gain access to materials exclusive to the classes or program that they are enrolled in. This part is pretty much done without any problems.

Tracking student progress

On my home computer I have a simple little program that does something wonderful, and I would like to do the same thing on my drupal e-learning site.

The program is a typing tutor. The wonderful thing is that it keeps track of the student's progress. It starts with lesson 1 of course, but it gives you the option to start on any lesson. It also remembers which lesson the student last worked on, and even whether he finished that lesson or not. When the student logs on again, the system recognizes him and tells him where he left off, so that he can resume the course at that point.

Lot of sites to manage? Maybe this can help (or you can help with it)

UPDATE Network Manager has been released for 5 6 and 7.
I'm releasing a new module soon and wanted to get some feedback on a screencast that I did. It's a project called the Network Manager (http://drupal.org/project/network_manager) and it helps you manage / maintain your sites all from within one site (given permissions set correctly for mysql user).

Here are links to the screencast (Jing forces it to be in 5 minute segments) --

Part 2 - http://bit.ly/yR6Zy

36 Sections of Content with Authenticated Access

I'm trying to set-up a site that will allow students that are enrolled in our different College programs (i.e. IT, Media Design, Pharmacy Technician, etc.) to have access to their curriculum (meaning web links, pdfs, docs, xls, etc.) through a web interface. We are open-entry/open-exit so we have students coming and going all of the time. We would like to keep a close eye on the students when the withdraw from the class to make sure that their access is taken away from the content for that class.

Making the case for using drupal as a university-wide content management system

The university I work for (approx. 12,000 students) is currently evaluating web CMS's to replace an older, cutom-built CMS in use across campus. Use of this new CMS would be supported and available for anyone at the university but not mandatory. I am a developer in the School of Medicine where in the past year we have rolled out over 20 drupal sites and have become enthusiastic drupal evangelists in the process. As a member of the campus-wide committee that is evaluating various CMS's, I would like to make a good case for adopting drupal as our new university-wide CMS.

Drupal for a community based masters program

I am the web development specialist for the Masters in Education: Teaching and Learning program at St. Mary's University of Minnesota. Currently our website is in perl and is a mess to maintain. With what the program would like to do with the website in the future, we are re-building the website using Drupal 6. I was going to scratch-code PHP for our specific needs, but Drupal offered so much more than I could hope to code myself.

Student Tracking

What is the best way to record the amount of time a student has spent on a page in Drupal? I looked at some timer mods, but have not found anything that really does what I want. Should I be trying to make a view that displays student activity? Is the logging accessible from views? Is there something super easy that I'm not seeing?

Ideally I'd like to be able to insert "time spent" into the existing Track view for each page. I'm guessing that isn't an easy thing to do, but just in case it's possible, I thought I'd mention it.

Thanks in advance,

Becky
