Drupal 8 will ship with a fancy new template engine (Twig) and a simpler theme layer. In this webinar, our speaker will show you some goodies from Twig and give you a walkthrough on how to get started with it.
He will also talk about the major problems that people were facing in working with Drupal 7 and what the community has done to make it better. This webinar will show - in both practical examples and on a broader scale - why Drupal 8 will make peace between backenders and frontenders.

Read moreReusable mentor indentifiers: shirts, buttons, for Drupal events
Camps have thought they could benefit from mentor identifiers like DrupalCons have.
It's expensive to print t-shirts for mentors for every Drupal event,
events could print t-shirts that mentors bring back to other events.
Benefits
- Increased recognition through repetition, a global representation of mentors.
- Simple for events, no need to design something new. Just locally source, re-using design.
- A better fit for purpose, no need for event logos, they could even have the word "mentor" on them!
How can we improve frontend sprints at Drupal events?
Last updated by lewisnyman on Wed, 2015-01-07 12:36
At DrupalCamp Ghent, we held a very small frontend BOF, with myself, Laurii, Emma.maria, and guest frontender Xano.
It quickly became a retrospective on the Friday sprints that took place at DrupalCon Amsterdam. The collective thoughts were not positive. It felt like we fell way short of our goals and potential for the Friday sprint. Drupalcon Friday sprints are about introducing people to sprinting and it feels like we failed badly at that.
Here were some of the problems:
- Newbies did not get enough help
- The few people helping the newbies did not get enough support
Drupal Camp Delhi 2015
Drupal Camp Delhi is the largest watering hole for the Drupal community in India. Started in 2011, DCD has seen a collective participation of more than 1400 students, developers and business owners in its 4 editions.
With a keynote by Dries in 2011 to a keynote by Holly Ross in 2013 and active code sprints by leading Drupalers, the event has increased its scale, outreach and community contribution over the years. DCD is a pioneer in introducing Drupal Job Fair in the country where a talented pool of college students meet leading Web/Drupal development companies.

Drupal 8 is taking the same path as other MVC (Model View Controller) frameworks like Ruby and Symfony, which makes it easier for developers to make an easy entry. Much of the Drupal code which seemed alien before now seems familiar to developers with experience in other frameworks.
