The next NYC Drupal Ladders sprint is happening Sunday, February 24th. The kickoff sprint last Sunday was a lot of fun. Come join us!

The Drupal Ladder project is part of an initiative to help Drupal users get started learning and contributing back to Drupal. The stated goal is to get "just" 1% of active users on drupal.org to contribute to Drupal core by 2014. This is a great way to learn about and contribute to Drupal 8.

What's the plan?

We're kicking off the first Drupal NYC Ladders Sprint this Sunday February 10th.

We'll be getting started with Drupal 8. Signup (at the bottom of this post) is requested but not required. The event will run from 2:00pm-5:00pm at the offices of our gracious host,

Site Building is back in SoHo on Feb. 7th, 10:00 am - Feb. 8th, 5:00 pm.

The Site Building track is perfect for those new to Drupal or for users who have worked with Drupal but need sequential training to fill in gaps in knowledge and skills.

High transaction volumes and large numbers of concurrent users can slow down the speediest dating site, or bring e-commerce to a halt. Yet, real-time queries and reporting are a critical requirement for many websites, whether dating, student scheduling or e-commerce.

Padraig O'Sullivan, Software Engineer for Akiban, and Andrew Kenny, VP of platform engineering for Acquia, will show how to overcome these challenges with Akiban and will highlight the case of Gofobo, a popular social entertainment-ticketing portal.

Drupal is having a Birthday!

This month's NYC Playday is a very special one as it coincides with Drupal's 12th Birthday! To celebrate we'll be having a very special Drupal Playday and Birthday Party. Everyone is invited to attend this very special occasion. We'll supply the birthday cake if you promise not to sing!

Playday starts at 11:00 AM. We'll probably start the birthday festivities about 3:00 PM, after everyone has had a chance to be productive.

There will be people of all skill levels, and backgrounds that are generally helping one another and getting assistance with issues. Even if you are new come out and ask questions and in a couple of events you will be answering other's questions I promise.

We're holding our 2nd Drupal Playday at xCubicle again. If you missed the playday at Treehouse, you can come to our space. Come if your working on a Drupal project and want to work among others. Skill level ranges from newbies to experts! Its the best place to absorb Drupal knowledge from others that might be working on similar projects. I'll also be around to answer any Drupal questions if needed.
