Marketing Collateral Wiki Page

The Drupal Marketing Wiki is an open source resource for anyone involved in the marketing and selling of Drupal services. The goal of this page is to provide a central location for sharing Drupal marketing collateral. Please post marketing items about Drupal that you think other marketers can use to help spread the word -- i.e. whitepapers, eBook, webinars, and short videos.

Tip: items added to the page should be designed for easy sharing. Printer friendly is good, revisable format is better, when it comes to multimedia then the digital assets or links to the assets themselves.

Marketing Fundraising Brainstorm

The Drupal Branding And Marketing Committee {BAM} needs your help!
We are trying to come up with Fundraising Ideas and we would like to hear ideas from you. These ideas must be NEW and not pull funds away from existing sources that already support the Drupal Association.

Where Does The Money Go?
BAM is working on some BIG goals. You can participate in the conversation here on GDO. Right now, we are working on several initiatives that each would require a financial outlay. Plus, we are planning for a significant investment throughout 2013 for the launch of Drupal 8. Our ideas include the purchase of print ads, video production, swag, exhibit booth materials, printed material, professional analysis services, and much more.

Who Is / What Is BAM?
BAM is a grassroots committee, led by Ben Finklea, that exists under the DA and consists of at least one board member and an international cast of independent Drupalers, shop owners, marketers, designers, themers, and coders, who volunteer their time, talents, and resources to place Drupal in the best position possible for future growth via Branding and Marketing. Read more about the creation of BAM in the official announcement by the DA. https://association.drupal.org/about/staff/marketing-branding-committee

Support wanted for having 'Drupal booth' at Dev conference and drupal camp in Korea

Drupal is going to be spread out and exposed bigger than ever in Korea soon.

Drupal Camp Seoul 2012 is scheduled on Oct 6th 2-6PM for 100 seats and already more than 111 people signed up for 120 limit signup capacity.

Not many people ever heard of Drupal in Korea and this camp is not like other drupal camp in USA or European countries.
It is more like introducing Drupal along with other CMS.
I wondered if Drupal Association would be interested in supporting to spread out Drupal in Korea with this event.
One thing I thought was having video setup and edit and share/upload.

Defining Success of Drupal Marketing

Continuing through the process outlined here: http://groups.drupal.org/node/250768

The next step is for us to define success. It's easy to say "grow Drupal faster" but we need to put some hard objective (and subjective) metrics on the outcome of Drupal Marketing.

The questions to answer are these:

  • What is our definition of true success for Drupal? How do we measure it?
  • What is the distance between where we are today and that success?

Roles

In the Virtual Enterprise Network book which I'm taking good bits from and altering according to needs - Ken describes six critical roles people play:

  • architect
  • broker
  • coach
  • technology support
  • executive leaders
  • group leaders

over two major areas:

development:

  • market
  • community
  • capability

support:

  • campaign
  • product
  • projects

People play different roles at different times, or as the Party people would say "hats".
